Edward Reed is actively recruiting for a Head of Operations to join our Northeast headquartered professional services client.Ideally, you will have experience of working in an operations role within a professional services environment and can demonstrate the ability to successfully manage multiple objectives whilst working with numerous stakeholders and teams.The RoleReporting to the Board you will be one of four department heads who collectively oversee the back office and support aspects of the business. You will have responsibility for the systems, processes and facilities that underpin the delivery of our clients’ services and the teams that work within that environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the strategy, will provide leadership to the teams you manage and support an environment in which all voices are heard and suggestions for change and improvement are encouraged. You will spearhead the firm’s ESG strategy and its commitment to deliver its services in a climate friendly, sustainable manner.The CandidateThe ideal candidate for this role will have recent experience within professional services for several years in a senior operational management position. You should be able to demonstrate examples of when you’ve made successful business decisions as well as being a visible leader with strong people management skills. Experience of change management, particularly when delivering large scale improvement projects alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential. You will be financially astute, commercially focused and have the ability to set and manage financial budgets.Main ActivitiesWork closely with the Management Board to develop operational strategies that support the achievement of the firm’s strategic plan.Manage four sub teams, namely Client services, IT, Facilities and Learning and Development to deliver the best possible support to the firm at large.Continually review processes and procedures to identify improvements to enhance the effectiveness and the efficiency of the firm.Lead the initiative to review all processes and digitise where appropriate to improve client service and deliver operational efficiencies and commercial benefits.Oversee office facilities including client reception, client meeting experience, plant and maintenance, archiving and health and safety.Lead the ESG strategy to ensure policies and working practices are aligned to the achievement of the Firm’s commitment to be Net Zero by 2040.Agree KPIs for the measurement of the operations function.Manage resources within the sub teams and promote an environment of transparency regarding expectation and performance.Promote a culture of excellence throughout the firm and support an environment of responsibility and accountability.Knowledge/Skills/Experience:Demonstrable experience in a senior leadership role, with the ability to clearly evidence effective, positive and lasting impact, including any initiatives undertaken.A track record of operating at both a strategic and operational level; comfortable working at board level.Strong leadership, project management and organisational qualities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Robust and confident to deliver multiple, high-profile projects within deadlines and under close scrutiny.Financially astute, commercially focussed and comfortable setting and managing financial budgets.Ability to set personal objectives and manage accordingly.Ability to manage multiple sub teams.Experience of working in a professional services environment would be preferable but not essential. Alternatively, experience of working in a commercial, service led organisation would be an advantage.
