The Purpose of the RoleAs the Head of Networks, you will be responsible for managing, leading, and developing the Networks, teams, and setting the strategy for the active and passive elements of the FFL infrastructure. The Head of Networks will be accountable for all the teams’ activities on all the department objectives / deliverables, ensuring that they adhere to project and task deadlines in line with Freedom Fibre’s business growth. The Head of Networks will act as a point of escalation for any identified issues or improvements across the department and create / implement the department strategy in line with Freedom Fibre’s ambitious business objectives, including department structure, upscaling, and direction of the department. Additionally, the Head of Networks, will help set the future direction of the network, drive the networks roadmap, help formulate and manage the teams’ budget and act on behalf of the Director of Networks as and when required.Core Responsibilities Accountable for the Network teams activities on all network, and Design deliveries / projects. Lead, manage and develop the Network building a one team approach across the function and wider business. Supporting the department’s development, training, and team direction, including: Team transformation and organisational change Technical team leadership and guidance Working in an outsource environment with remote engineers and team. People management
Work with the Network Operations Director to design, create, implement, and deliver a robust and clear strategy for the department, included a clear vision for the Network and Design teams in line with business objectives. Lead by example – encourage positive and collaborative working within the team and the wider business.
Ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements, resources and capabilities needed have been captured and fully documented in readiness for service transition.
Ensuring the Service Design function defines the end-to-end service flows to deliver a positive customer experience. Setting the standards for effective and proactive monitoring aligned to best practice and supporting the Network teams in creating and implementing robust processes and procedures. Responsible for the completion of Service Transition milestones by holding project delivery teams to account for process adherence and quality. Be a central point of escalation for the Networks teams. Working with outsourced partners as and when required Supporting external projects and internal business projects as and when required. The above of roles and responsibilities are not an exhaustive list.Skills & Experience Minimum of 5 years management and/or leadership experience in a similar role Proven track record in supporting, leading, and developing teams. Expertise in data network engineering practices, design/ planning/ implementation is essential. Previous experience in a telecom’s role or business, and more specifically a technical leadership role is desirable. Excellent IT systems skills is essential. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills Ability to analyse, diagnose and resolve complex problems. Self-motivated, positive, and pro-active in all aspects of the role Strong communication skills
QualificationsIdeally educated BSc with an electronics, or computing background, however relevant experience will be considered.Reporting toNetwork Operations DirectorFreedom Fibre recognise the service provided by recruitment agencies and as such have a Preferred 2nd tier Supplier List, with whom terms of business have been agreed.
