To further support our journey, we are seeking our next Head of Legal Services (Monitoring Officer). Reporting directly to our Chief Executive, Steve Maxey, you will form part of our Extended Management Team and will be directly involved in providing strategic legal advice to Chief Officers and Elected Members on sensitive and highly complex legal matters. Holding a caseload across an exciting portfolio including planning, housing, leisure, employment law and commercial opportunities; this role will see you engage with staff across the entire organisation, directly shaping opportunities for North Warwickshire and its residents, and with the opportunity to expand your experience outside of the legal issues of projects for those with wider leadership ambitions.
Senior Officer and Elected Member relationships are valued here in North Warwickshire, and the size of our organisation means that we are a close-knit organisation, that can comfortably move at pace. Acting as the Council’s principal legal advisor and Monitoring Officer, fulfilling the role of Solicitor to the Council, and designated Data Protection Officer, you will also manage our Democratic Services Division, in respect of Boards/Committees, ensuring a quality and timely service is provided to all.
With an enviable fully-achievable Local Plan, our 2024/25 budget set, holding a clear commitment to community investment, this is an exciting time to join North Warwickshire Borough Council. To deliver on our promises, we are therefore seeking suitably qualified legal professionals, who are either currently at, or are looking for their first role at this level. Both public and private sector experienced candidates are welcomed, however you will need to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the governance structures unique to a local authority setting.
