Job summary
Head of Learning and Organisational Development
We’re looking for a Head of Learning and OD to lead our people development services. This role will be responsible for delivery of our Talent Management agenda, Organisational Development, Coaching, Mentoring, Learning and development, vocational development and provision of library services to both WUTH and Wirral Community NHS Trust.
This role will also oversees the delivery of the Trusts widening participation programmes. We work in collaboration with partners from Wirral system and Liverpool City Region as part of WUTH’s commitment to creating work and development opportunities for our local communities.
Main duties of the job
Service lead for the following teams:
Organisational Development
Learning and Vocational Development
Knowledge and Library Service
The role will oversee various people development initiatives including:
The design and implementation of various Leadership Development projects
Talent Development
Coaching and mentoring
Implementation of a new appraisal and check-in (supervision) approach at WUTH
Internal OD Consultancy
Annual leadership Conference
Implementation of WUTH Training and Education Directory
Apprenticeships and Vocational Development
Mandatory training and Trust Induction
Knowledge and Library Services

Educated to Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject area
Relevant Professional Qualification eg Psychometrics ( MBTI, FIROb, TKI, SDI etc), or Occupational Psychology
Qualification in training / teaching
Evidence of Continuous professional development
Academic qualification or training to act as workplace coach/mentor.

More than 5 years’ experience at a senior management / leadership level within an Organisational Development or Learning and Development environment
Extensive OD and Change Management experience at senior management level
Experience of leading large / complex projects, workforce/OD initiatives
Knowledge of training needs analysis and evaluation methodologies
Experience of managing multiple teams
Experience of reporting to Trust Board or Programme Board level within organisational governance arrangements, both written and verbally
Advanced managerial and leadership skills in the speciality
Financial knowledge and the ability to manage a substantial budget
Knowledge and understanding of business planning; service redesign and implementation
High standard of Information Technology skills
A high level of numeracy and literacy skills are required as the post requires the ability to analyse, interpret and use complex information of all types
Proven track record of setting goals and achieving them
Ability to coach, mentor and support others
Self driven in researching and applying OD diagnostic or evaluation tools that can be effectively deployed in planned and commissioned OD activities
