Chiltern Railways Head of Human Resources London
Chiltern Railways are responsible for operating a rail service from London Marylebone through to Birmingham, with many stops in-between around the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire areas. We're on the hunt for a dynamic Head of Human Resources who thrives on delivering top-notch HR services that could help fuel our business success! This role is a core member of the Chiltern Senior Leadership team. It provides cross-functional leadership to the business with responsibility for introducing, implementing and sustaining the HR strategy for Chiltern. A key contributor to the wider Chiltern business strategy, championing a performance culture driven through our 5 strategic pillars: Customer Experience, Service Delivery, Financial Performance, Safety and People. This role collaborates and influences internally and externally to deliver our People vision of creating a high-performing culture, made up of diverse and engaged colleagues, proudly working together to deliver the Chiltern Vision every day.
Key Accountabilities
Deliver holistic HR strategy, plans and actions that are integrated with business objectives and ensuring business goals and metrics are met and driving a high-performance culture through coaching and engagement with business leaders.
Lead and develop a team of 9 HR professionals spanning HR Operations, HR Systems, HR Business Partnering/ Advising and L&D to deliver exceptional value-add services, whilst influencing excellent service delivery from our HR Shared Service partners.
Enabling, embedding, and sustaining business change, from organisation design and development to identifying and nurturing talent interventions and capabilities, and leading cyclical talent, performance, and reward activities.
Drive Chiltern's ED&I agenda, ensuring the FREDIE model underpins everything we do.
Develop KPls and people management insights that enable trend tracking for effective management, enhanced workforce and future planning.
Build and maintain good relations with TU colleagues and ensure that terms and conditions and collective agreements are supportive of business need and achieve change as necessary.
Oversee development and deployment of policies and procedures that support the effective and efficient operation of the business.
Keeping up to date with the latest HR practices, laws, and regulations, and applying this knowledge to ensure compliance, promote best practice and risk management.
Collaborate and share insight and best practice within Chiltern, across Arriva Group colleagues and at industry forums driving continuous improvement effective solutions and knowledge sharing.

Experience:
Significant experience of working as a senior HR professional or as a senior manager with significant people management experience, in an operational, matrix organisation. Experience of working with senior leaders on a range of business/ people issues - strategic to operational. Experience of leading and influencing new initiatives and rolling out new ways of working. Good knowledge and understanding of HR practices across the employment life cycle. Good understanding of employment law. Good technical knowledge of change management models and theories. Experience of conducing diagnosis, analysing findings, generating options and building commitment to solutions. Degree or equivalent. MCIPD qualified (or equivalent), with significant post qualification experience.

Able to travel across network to our different locations
