JRRL have an exciting position as Head of HR for a School in the SE London area. You will need significant generalist HR experience at a senior level and experience of managing a team, plus you will hold CIPD Level 5 or equivalent. You will be providing operational management to the Human Resources team whilst continually leading on process improvement. In addition to working with the HR team you will work closely with the Finance Department and the Group Executive Team.Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week, all year (not term time only), 1 to 2 days per week working from homeDuties for the Head of HR role:Provide effective operational leadership and management of People operations function throughout the employee life cycle.Lead, coach and develop the People Operations Advisor and administrators (3 people in total) and work closely with the Head of People Operations Systems and Data to ensure an effective and efficient people-centric service is delivered.Provide effective, high-quality advice and support to senior leaders, managers and staff on all aspects of employment law, HR policy and processes, including terms and conditions of employment, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and promoting good practice in all such matters.Undertake casework and making sure it is managed effectively, taking into account best practice and managing and mitigating risk appropriately. Delegating casework to the People Operations Advisor and providing coaching and advice as appropriate.Lead on the review of HR processes in consultation with Chief People Officer and internal stakeholders to ensure they are efficient and effective and work with the Head of Systems and Data to improve and develop systems.Support the Chief People Officer (CPO) with the review policies, procedures and contractual documentation and the management of budgets.Ensure recruitment processes are effective and efficient and transparent and secures diversity of applicants, supporting and advising managers with the process as appropriate.Ensure that all checks for staff, contractors and visitors are completed in line with regulatory requirements and that the Single Central Records are accurate and up to date.Ensure all HR administration (including offer letters, contracts and changes of terms and conditions letters) are clear, accurate and timely.Ensure HR data is up to date and accurate and that payroll have accurate and correct information to process payments.Manage organisational change processes including redundancies, redeployment and changes in terms and conditions when appropriate.Support the CPO in assessing organisational development needs and in the design and delivery of training.Ensure that leavers are effectively “offboarded”, ensuring exit interviews are undertaken and feedback evaluated.To support the CPO in the implementation of the People Plan.Support with the day-to-day management of budgets.To further wellbeing and equality, inclusivity and diversity in the operation and delivery of the service across the organisation.Person Specification for the Head of HR role:CIPD level 5 qualification or equivalent.Significant generalist HR experience at a senior level, including in a highly regulated sector.Experience of effectively managing a team to deliver high performance.Experience of effectively leading on process improvement.Experience of and a successful track record of providing HR advice on employment matters to senior leaders and managers and managing complex casework.Up to date knowledge and understanding of terms and conditions of employment, employment legislation and its practical application, HR best practice and wider HR related developments.In depth knowledge and understanding of employment policies, procedures and change management and the ability to review and draft policies and procedures.Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively listen, be sensitive to the news of others, communicate verbally, deliver presentations and training, and produce clear and concise written documents.Experience of leading on recruitment and selection processes, and ensuring diversity and inclusion is embedded.A clear understanding of Safeguarding and Prevent and the ability to create and sustain a learning environment in which the safety and welfare of children is paramount.This is a rare opportunity to bring your Human Resources expertise and employment law knowledge along with your people skills to this school and be part of its ongoing improvements.
