A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, highly motivated leader to join our Academy at Norwich City Football Club, as Head of Football Development on a 3 year fixed-term contract.
Working closely with the Academy Manager, Technical Director and Sporting Director for the club, the Head of Football Development will be responsible for driving all football and player development activities in line with the club’s overarching football strategy.
The successful candidate will display effective leadership across all player-development and across all multi-disciplinary areas of the Academy to ensure that it delivers, in line with the club’s values, well-rounded footballers into the Norwich City Men’s First Team, and the professional game more broadly.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work in collaboration with key, senior stakeholders (Sporting Director, Technical Director, Head Coach), ensure and oversee clear pathways for players transitioning from the Academy to the First Team, with careful consideration and management of their Individual Development Plans (IDP’s) .
Develop and demonstrate a clear and aligned working relationship with the First Team to include regular strategy, planning, player development, succession planning and playing and coaching philosophy meetings.
Continually evaluate and measure, in line with the clubs’ broader approaches, the level of each player within the Academy and ensure resources are strategically allocated in order to optimise productivity.
Ensure that all players receive the appropriate multi-disciplinary support in order to drive a holistic approach to player development.
Manage the Academy’s reputation both internally and across the club to include the Board and First Team and externally to all Academy Stakeholders – including the maintenance of strong relationships with the Premier League, EFL, FA, PGAAC, other Academy’s, Universities/Colleges, and Intermediaries.
To act in a manner that supports the club’s behaviours of Positivity, Togetherness and Respect.
Ensure that the Academy retains its Category 1 status.
Qualifications/Experience
Essential
UEFA A Licence
Experience of working within an elite-performance sports environment, and a high performing business environment
Solid understanding of how of how elite players are developed, and the process of developing coaches
Desirable
UEFA Pro Licence
Previous experience playing football at a professional, or high semi-professional level
FA Advanced Youth Award
Level 4 coaching qualification in another sport
Sports Science Degree (or other sporting-discipline)
