An excellent opportunity has come up for a senior financial risk professional to join the firm as Head of Financial Risk. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this will be a key hire for the business, where the successful candidate will manage financial risk across the company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing risk management strategies.
The role will be varied and hands on, providing strategic guidance to senior management and work closely with the wider risk, actuarial, investment and finance departments.
Key Responsibilities of the Head of Financial Risk:
Lead the Financial Risk function providing appropriate insight and assurance to the CRO about the financial (insurance, market, counterparty credit, credit) related risks (both current and emerging) facing the business.
Link the strategic objectives of the company to the way financial risks are understood and managed in support of these objectives.
Assess the adequacy of financial risk modelling outputs to inform business decisions.
Develop and maintaining effective relationships needed to support these activities.
Ensure the framework for financial risk remains appropriate and takes into consideration internal requirements and wider industry developments.
Establish and maintain a comprehensive financial risk strategy and supporting components including relevant policies and procedures, risk appetite, stress and scenario testing, risk MI and risk governance. These to be delivered consistent with the holistic Enterprise Risk Management Framework
Act as a member of the senior Risk leadership team contributing to the development and maintenance of an effective risk framework and culture.

Required knowledge and experience for the Head of Financial Risk role:
Experience in a senior financial risk role within a relevant financial services firm or consultancy.
Broad and holistic understanding of general insurance company operations
Understanding of financial risk management techniques and practices
Ability to interact with different audiences (internal and external) at a range of levels.
Evidence of leading high performing teams in a risk discipline.
