Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting - £70,011 p.a. + benefits We are currently looking for a Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting to join our Finance function within the Corporate group.This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.The salary for this role is £70,011 + an Accountancy Allowance of £4,000 (qualified candidates). The Finance Division is essential to ensure that the agency discharges its statutory responsibilities and carries out business operations while delivering optimal value from the funding we receive.The services Finance provides range from Finance Operations, through to Accounting, Reporting and Control, Strategic Finance, Finance Business Partnering and Planning and Performance.What's the role?The postholder will lead the provision of finance and accountancy services, including provision of accurate and timely financial information for decision-making, production of high quality and timely financial statements.You will have the opportunity to apply your financial skills flexibly in a challenging and changing business environment playing a lead role in driving forward change and gaining a range of experience in return.Key responsibilities:Production of high quality, compliant Annual financial statements and Whole of Government Accounts and other government returnsAdvising on issues relating to the application of the FREM, IFRS and MPM (Managing Public Money)Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place, documented and adhered to across the business.Driving forward the maturity of Agency's finance function, working with the Cabinet Office to ensure we deliver a world class finance function in line with the Central Government Finance operating model.Who are we looking for?Our successful candidate will have:CCAB, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualificationSubstantial knowledge of finance systems, processes and control environmentsExtensive experience of managing financial controls and risks in both reporting and finance operations.Extensive experience of applying Financial Reporting Manual (FReM), IFRS, Managing Public Money to Financial AccountsExtensive experience of leading and managing team of professionalsIf you would like to find out more about this fantastic opportunity, please read our Job Description and Person Specification!Please note: The job description may not open in some internet browsers.
