Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Finance to be based atour Head Office in Cheadle, Greater Manchester.You will join us on a full time basis on a permanent contract and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £55,250 - £74,750 per annum.
Human Appeal is a faith-based international charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.
Key responsibilities of our Head of Finance:
Line management of up to 8 staff, comprising Accountants, Finance Officers and Finance Assistants
Ensuring month-end accounting and reporting is delivered in a timely manner
Managing the preparation of statutory accounting and year end audits
Ensuring the monthly reconciliation of all income and expenditure
Managing the VAT and HMRC submissions and reporting
Successfully safeguarding the charity from risk in accordance with internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulations such as institutional grant requirements and Charity SORP Accounting
Delivering value for money by ensuring due diligence checks are applied to all financial matters
Managing and develop a high performing and capable Finance team to deliver a quality service to Human Appeal

What we're looking for in our Head of UK Finance:
Professional Qualification with minimum fellow status with a recognised professional institute such as ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA
Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant role as a Finance Team Manager or 5 years of experience in a Senior role in Charity Accounting
Audit training with a recognised audit firm
Experience in MS Office Suite, SAGE 50, Microsoft NAV or other Accounting Systems
Knowledge of Charity SORP Accounting, VAT Accounting / Partial Exemption & VAT Returns
Ability to work under pressure, manage time, workload and prioritise work to deadlines
