Head of Field Operations - Metering Services

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
* Responsible for the design, development & leadership of all core field activities of IMServ, to maximize service, revenue, quality, and cost in the short and long term.
* To lead a 200+ strong team of engineers and meter readers, responsible for significant income
for the business (~£20M)
MAIN ASSIGNMENTS:
* To lead, manage and be responsible for all operational aspects of the delivery of operational field activities to customers over the entire service lifecycle,including day-to-day delivery, Health & Safety, audits, training, field productivity, quality, and accreditation.
* To define, devise and execute resourcing strategies by working alongside the Head of Metering Support, that meet the needs of IMServ, both now and in the future, for field activities, maximizing flexibility and cost effectiveness.
* To use the resourcing strategy to identify the right talent required, now and in the future.
* To represent all aspects of these services to the rest of the business, whilst maintaining the broader view of IMServ business goals and acting accordingly, while working with the wider operational management team to achieve our common goals.
* Communicate IMServ Field Strategy and manage change effectively in the field, as the strategy & industry changes.
* Work with Account Managers, Technical Teams, and the Engineering &Technology Manager, to support the development and delivery of new services in line with the strategic vision.
* Proactively identify any issues that will prevent the delivery of the IMServ Strategy, and play a lead role in suggesting and delivering rectification activities to mitigate risks.
* To work with the Field Managers to consistently plan and execute field work, with said work and staff closely monitored from a productivity (cost) and quality perspective.
* Working with the Head of Metering Support to manage 3rd party companies used in the delivery of field services, whether the 3rd party is used for equipment provision, services, or manpower.
* To be in regular communication with other Heads of Department (e.g. Metering Support, Commercial) and be able to successfully balance demand and capacity.
* Be accountable for managing the use of your allocated budget (circa £9M) and the stock and equipment in the field.
* Working with the field managers to ensure that work is executed safely, using suitably trained resources, and that work is correctly audited to manage our risks.
* To effectively provide leadership to the Field Teams with a focus on Health and Safety outcomes
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
* Be able to clearly demonstrate related work experiences, with a strong track record in a similar role.
* Specific leadership focus and proven senior field team management experience.
* Proven Health and Safety experience.
* Proven knowledge of high volume/transactional customer delivery
* Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to interact with both internal and external customers.
* Sound commercial and financial awareness.
* Able to work in a complex environment with conflicting demands and make clear and consistent decisions and remain calm under pressure.
* Have a strong focus on Continuous Improvement and ensuring that the service provided meets industry quality and company standards.
* Ability to travel regularly including overnight stays as required.
