We provide a wide range of services from traditional facilities management and estate maintenance, to sterile services, wheelchair engineering and procurement, to clients both within and beyond the NHS. Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at AGH Solutions as a Head of Facilities and be a key part of the AGH Solutions Senior Management Team. You will provide oversight for the professional leadership of facilities management services and teams including domestics, security, catering, portering, housekeeping and transport to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues. You will be required to maintain effective working relationships with clinical services and departments across Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and work effectively with a range of external organisations including external contractors and statutory bodies.You will have senior level experience in managing the delivery of facilities services, providing the vision and drive for the future development of services, and in the leadership and development of teams.You will possess a problem-solving approach to tasks and be capable of translating strategic plans into workable solutions. You will have strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinical teams.Main duties of the job• Professional leadership of facilities management services including domestics, security, catering, portering, housekeeping, transport and other facilities services as deemed appropriate to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.• Maintain effective working relationships with clinical services and departments across Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.• Work effectively with a range of external organisations including external contractors and statutory bodies.• Develop links with other NHS organisations across the region to share best practice.• Ensure effective management of staff and budgets within Facilities Management.• Negotiation and performance monitoring of all facilities management support services provided through external contractors.• Deputise for the Manager Director as required.• To become involved and lead on group level Facilities work programmes as required.• To be a member of AGH Solutions Senior Management Team.Working for our organisationAGH Solutions is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and provides Estates, Facilities and procurement services for the Trust.We are privileged to operate in a beautiful part of the country. Leeds city centre is 25 minutes by train from Keighley.We provide a wide range of services, from traditional facilities management and estate maintenance to sterile services, wheelchair engineering and procurement.Our vision is to bring you a flexible, responsive, high quality, value for money service.Our NHS heritage means we work to the values and ethics of the NHS, and to those of Airedale NHS specifically.Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesFor further information and full details of the job role please see the attached job description and person specification.Person specificationQualifications• Qualified to master's level or equivalent, significant experience in managing facilities services.• Evidence of continuing professional development• Full membership of BIFM, I RICS or other relevant professional institutionKnowledge• Comprehensive working knowledge of current technical requirements and legislation relevant to the post.• Substantial experience in a senior facilities management role in an NHS acute hospital or similar large organisation• An up-to-date knowledge and awareness of key issues in Facilities management, ideally within the NHS.• Experience in leadership and development of teams.• Experience in the delivery of quality services whilst meeting challenging financial targets.• Experience in managing the delivery of facilities services.Skills• An ability to think strategically and clearly under pressure, reach decisions, prioritise and recommend appropriate action.• Problem-solving approach to tasks, capable of translating strategic plans into workable solutions.• Commercial acumen and able to carry out effective negotiation and with diplomacy.• Communication and influencing skills.• Ability to work effectively with clinical teams.• Good presentational skills and the confidence and ability to represent the Company at senior-level internal and external meetings.• Leadership skills, to provide vision and drive for the future development of services.• Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.• High Level of IT and keyboard skills.Other• Flexible approach including the willingness and ability to be available out of hours.• Able to travel between sites.NOTE: This vacancy may close before the advertised closing date if sufficient suitable applications are received.If you are offered a position which requires you to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, Airedale NHS Foundation Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £41.90, Standard £21.90 or Basic £21.90) from your first full months salary.
