The opportunity
I’m partnered exclusively with a chemicals FTSE 250 business who are looking to recruit a Head of External Communications into their successful and growing business headquartered in the heart of London. This is a newly created role with the opportunity to build and shape an integrated External Communications function from the ground up.
The role
Reporting to the VP of Investor Relations, you will be responsible for:
Designing and executing comprehensive communication strategies, encompassing financial calendar events, corporate announcements, and stakeholder engagement activities.
Ensuring external communications strategies are aligned with organizational objectives and industry standards.
Enhancing reputation of the organisation through proactive campaigns and clear communication of organizational initiatives.
Working with the VP of Investor Relations to address shareholder concerns and enhance investor relations, as well as contributing to the drafting of the Annual Report and similar materials so a unified narrative is maintained across all external communication channels.
Overseeing media relations, managing journalist interactions, creating compelling content, supervising press office operations, and supporting the CEO’s engagement plans and media interactions.
Developing and managing crisis communication strategies to effectively handle corporate affairs programs.
Collaborating with regulatory and public affairs teams to communicate the organisation’s stance on important issues.
Leading the development of the corporate website and boost engagement on social media platforms.
Working closely with with the wider marketing and communications functions across business divisions to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
The ideal candidate
You have an extensive corporate communications experience in a FTSE listed business with significant international operations, and have an understanding of financial communications. You will also be an effective communicator with acute political awareness and a talent for simplifying complex subjects. A background in chemicals, or in adjacent sectors (manufacturing, engineering) will be hugely advantageous.
