Company Overview:
Our client is an innovative fin-tech/legal-tech company, we are exclusively seeking a Head of Engineering to lead a new talented team in Edinburgh. As the Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology landscape (actively hiring a team), driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects.
Responsibilities:
Leadership: Provide strategic direction and inspire the engineering team to achieve departmental goals.
Project Oversight: Oversee multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
Resource Management: Assign workloads to engineering teams, optimize resource allocation, and foster collaboration.
Technical Guidance: Offer hands-on technical guidance, especially in areas such as JavaScript, React.JS, and AWS.
Budgeting and Scheduling: Estimate project budgets and schedules, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with senior management, vendors, and clients, providing regular updates and negotiating project requirements.
Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality software development practices and adherence to best practices.
Innovation: Drive innovation within the engineering function, exploring new technologies and methodologies.
Requirements:
Technical Expertise: Proficiency in JavaScript, React.JS, and AWS. You will be teaching and mentoring both junior and senior team members in these areas whilst leading from the front.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional engineering teams.
Project Management: Experience overseeing complex projects from inception to completion.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to align engineering efforts with overall business objectives.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
Previous experience in a leadership role within a technology-driven organization.
