Job Description:The Opportunity:At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Head of Engineering Governance to join our team within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) Line of Business (LoB). The CS3 LoB operates across the UK, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers. We help to ensure the availability of front-line capability wherever and whenever required.Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in forming and driving the overarching engineering governance of the CS3 Engineering function, as well as enhancing the capability of our Engineering Management. We are looking for an engineering leader who can apply their experience of data-driven continuous improvement to a large-scale, diverse problem space, and who is good at understanding and balancing stakeholder needs to create optimal solutions for the business.What you’ll do as the Head of Engineering Governance:Assess the performance of the engineering activities across the line of business, identifying areas of weakness and developing improvement opportunities in conjunction with the functional or delivery leadership.Provide functional leadership to the Engineering Management community within CS3 and mentor the team to support with professional development opportunities and continuous improvement.Drive and chair the engineering reviews as part of the monthly Integrated Business Management (IBM) cycle. Through management of these monthly reviews, you will assess engineering performance through KPIs such as milestone adherence, design and stage review performance and effective work force planning to support the function and delivery teams in developing improvement initiatives across the LoB. These reviews include:Engineering Demand and Supply Reviews.Demonstrated Performance and Maturity Reviews.Persistent Design Review Failure Reviews.Ad Hoc Tiger Team Improvement Reviews.Integrated Planning Reviews.Co-ordinate and drive cross-functional activities in conjunction with Project Management / Project Controls to improve Engineering Management delivery.Through analysis of the engineering KPIs, take actions to understand trends, root causes and lead change initiatives to deliver performance improvements.Develop and deliver transformation activities for CS3 Engineering as part of the CS3 Transformation Team, including working with internal and external partners and suppliers.Collate and generate monthly LoB Engineering reports.Establish and manage CS3 Engineering overhead budgets for the engineering management cost centres.Collate SAP demand data to present into the monthly resource reviews and the Integrated Business Planning reviewsAct as the Life Cycle Management (LCM) and Integrated Planning Champion for CS3 Engineering. Engage with Project Controls and Programme Management Office (PMO) to improve the interactions between the functions and Engineering and drive the improvement and adoption of processes, data integrity, plans and management of risk.Represent CS3 at the LCM, Governance and Engineering Process Councils.We’d like to hear from you if you have a combination of the following:Proven technical leadership and decision-making skills in a high complexity, dynamic environment at an engineering management level.Senior level experience of leading capability and/or process development within engineering, across a functional or programme area, demonstrating an ability to implement a change to working practices.Expertise across the engineering lifecycle and engineering disciplines, including assessing key deliverables, chairing reviews and driving action implementation.High levels of self-motivation with the gravitas and credibility to work with a diverse multi-disciplinary team, across functions and lines of business, and at different levels of seniority.Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with an ability to influence and adapt according to changing demands.Tenacity and determination, with a desire to deliver outputs and results.Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others to facilitate knowledge transfer.An ability to self-manage your activities and understand your own impact on others.An ability to accept accountability for decisions and actions and project confidence and decisiveness.Experience of being a thought leader who keeps current in their professional expertise and has applied innovative and creative ideas to improve performance.Security ClearanceYou must be eligible for full security clearance.
