Head of Employee Relations
who can work in a high volume, fast paced environment.
This is a brand-new opportunity, created to develop our employee relations function and provide ER leadership and support to the business. This role will lead the team to success and will report to our Head of HR Shared Services.
As Head of ER, you will be rooted within the people leadership team and will sit specifically within our HR Shared Services hub. You will be responsible for both operational and strategic ER operations, in addition to leading the team. Our ideal candidate will be ER specialist who is able to work to pace and volume, whilst applying a solutions and results focussed approach.
This is a permanent and full-time position which will ideally be based within a commutable distance from our Leeds Shared Service Centre.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the Employees Relations function is designed and delivers an excellent customer experience with a people first approach
Lead the team to success by ensuring the management of cases is both timely and efficient
Provide pragmatic advice on escalated complex ER cases such as grievances, ACAS, ET claims
Reduce the number and financial impact of Employment Tribunal claims and settlement agreements, and our spend on legal fees
Manage the relationship with our retained employment law partner, reviewing performance and service provision whilst ensuring value for money
Ensure activity and advice is risk free, compliant and in line with best practice and governing legislation
Ensure policies and practices align with employment laws and regulations
Developing and implementing employee relations strategies to foster a positive and productive work environment. Promoting employee engagement, satisfaction, and well-being.
Drive and manage key ER team projects including policy projects,
Partner with key internal stakeholders to provide leadership to the business on employee relations and present regular business updates on ER activity
Develop and maintain strong relationships with other members of the HR team to facilitate improvements in the delivery of consistent processes with the overall aim of continuous improvement
Build capability by working closely with people managers and with L&D to provide formal training and resources
Coach and influence line managers to ensure the appropriate outcomes are achieved in each case
Liaise with recognised Trade Union representatives on any changes as appropriate
Gather, analyse and provide data and key KPIs to the SLT
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in a senior stakeholder led ER position
CIPD qualification or employment law qualification is highly desirable, but not essential
Sound experience managing complex employee relations and leading a team
Experience of working in a commercial fast-paced sector
Commitment to high standards and an unwavering attention to detail
