Direct message the job poster from People Source ConsultingDirector at People Source - Connecting excellent engineers in the UK (Embedded , Electronics and mechanical) with over 150 recommendations!Job Title: Head of DevelopmentLocation: Middlewich, Cheshire (on-site 3 days per week)Working from home: We allow working from home but for this role more time in the factory may be required to cover the team being on different schedules.Position Overview: Head of DevelopmentWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Development to lead our Research and Development (R&D) team in the design, development, and enhancement of mass spectrometry products.This is a Senior management position where you’ll have department responsibility (8-10 direct reports), engineering management & design authority, project management (oversee multiple concurrent projects), process management and general engineering leadership within a design & manufacturing environment.Experience in a senior leadership position, including Head of Engineering / Engineering Director / Technical Director / NPI Director / Technical Manager within manufacturing is essential. Proven experience managing multidiscipline engineering teams, including mechanical, electronics/ software is essential.Role:To manage the technical services departments including mechanical design, electronics lead and software.Multidiscipline applications, mechanical, electrical, electronics and software within the field of scientific instrumentation.Participation in the setting of department budget and managing to budget8-10 direct reportsRecruitment, training, and performance managementIdeally have an electronics background and be able to provide expertise for electronic designManagement and technical oversight multi-disciplinary projectsCompliance & certification as required to international standards e.g. CE, UKCA, ISO9001Oversee feasibility analysis, project scoping, resource planning and cost estimatingInvolvement in key design reviews of developments activitiesManagement and sign-off of contractual and technical change controlDesign authority for solutions and products from inception to completionInvolvement in NPI and new product developmentContinuous improvement across all areasHybrid working, 3 days a week in the office in MiddlewichFlexi HoursYour normal contractual hours of work are 36 hours a week, 8 hours Monday to Thursday and 4 hours Friday.You are entitled to benefit from our flexible working hours policy. The operation of flexible working hours is subject to your manager's approval based on the requirements and duties of your job.Pension SchemeThe company operates a defined contribution pension scheme.
