Your mission goes beyond technology—it’s about empowering teams with the knowledge and skills needed to harness data effectively.What will you be doing? Enabling AI Adoption:Accelerate the safe adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities within Ofgem.Enable AI features within existing products (like CoPilot within Microsoft Office tools).Develop Ofgem’s own Machine Learning and AI models using Ofgem data within our Data Science team. Understanding Evolving Needs:Work closely with staff across Ofgem to understand their evolving needs.Find solutions and capabilities that align with these needs, collaborating across Data and Technology teams. Guidelines and Training:Lead the production of training materials and guidelines for safe and appropriate AI and data usage by staff.Ensure informed decisions and actions regarding AI and data. Strategic Roadmap:Collaborate with the Chief Data & AI Officer, Head of Data Governance, and Head of Data Science.Set a roadmap for transformation initiatives related to AI and Data Improvement.Align Ofgem’s AI and data journey with organizational goals. PurposeLead multi-disciplinary teams in a specific work area in the context of operating in a Professions and Flexible Resourcing model. Plan, oversee and deliver a set of work deliverables on time and to a high standard through effective project management and support of multidisciplinary team members. Help them understand how these methods can address organisational needs.Opportunity Portfolio: Create a portfolio of opportunities within Ofgem that can benefit from AI capabilities. Identify areas where AI can make a positive impact.Prioritisation Roadmap: Work with the Data Business Partner to prioritise these opportunities based on their value, criticality, and cost/speed of delivery. Develop a roadmap that outlines the sequence of implementation.Ethical Frameworks: Working with the Head of Data Governance, develop AI and Data ethics frameworks specific to Ofgem. These frameworks should guide how we scope, assess, test, deliver, and use AI capabilities appropriately. Provide practical advice and guidance tailored to different areas within Ofgem, including content for the Executive Committee.Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Data Science, Architecture, and Technology teams at Ofgem. Work together to deliver AI and data capabilities and models that align with organisational goals.Advocacy and Leadership: Promote the use of AI and Data capabilities and models among Ofgem staff and the leadership team. Champion the adoption of data-driven solutions.Community Building: Foster communities of practice around AI and Data within Ofgem and across the civil service. Share knowledge, encourage the use of delivered capabilities, and elevate ambition levels.Setting-up and leading high-performing team based on effective resource management, ongoing support and professional Manages effective and inclusive team resourcing and staff onboarding through close engagement with relevant Deputy Director, Workstream Managers, Heads of Professions, PDLs and HR Staffers to ensure best talent match to work needs. Helps team members deliver by building supportive, inclusive team environment based on trust-based relationships, transparency and inclusivity. Takes ownership for own and team members’ professional development by:-         Providing ongoing coaching and identification of development opportunities in regular performance conversations.-         Supporting team member’s performance evaluation through honest, fair, high quality 360 degree feedback to PDLs.Person specificationUnderstanding of data literacy, data science, artificial intelligence. Must be able to explain these topics to a non-technical audience (LEAD)Experience of working in a complex environment, acting as an internal expert, advising senior leaders on strategic needs.
