A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen at West Mercia Police for a Head of Crime Scene and Collision Investigation.
We are seeking a highly motivated leader with proven experience of leading forensic teams. As an integral member of the Forensic Services Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will not only be responsible for the Crime Scene Investigation and
Forensic Collision Investigation units but will support wider Forensic Services delivery across West Mercia.
The successful candidate must be a champion for forensic accreditation, leading the implementation and development of this into their units. They will be service minded, adept at balancing performance and demand with staff health and wellbeing, in a challenging
financial environment.
This role is perfect for forensic leaders wanting to develop professionally into a senior manager role, or for current senior management level forensic leaders wanting to experience a new force or portfolio of responsibility.

The main purpose of the Head of Crime Scene and Collision Investigation is to lead and manage the operational and technical efficiency of the Crime Scene Investigation and Forensic Collision Investigation Units, including the management, development, and
motivation of personnel.
Ensuring that professional standards are maintained, and that national forensic compliance and accreditation standards and force policy are adhered to. To attend and investigate appropriate scenes of major crime / incidents and be the lead for West Mercia
Police in all matters that appertain to Crime Scene Investigation and Forensic Collision Investigation, providing high level scientific / technical expertise to assist in the detection and prosecution of crime throughout West Mercia Police and in line with
force policy.
Keep abreast of national developing best practice and innovate and develop the internal approach, advising the Head of Forensic Services accordingly.
Participate as an active member of the Forensic Services Senior Management Team.
