Our client, a leading property investment and development finance company based in the Birmingham are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance and MLRO to join their team to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
The job:
The Head of Compliance and MLRO will play a pivotal role in overseeing all compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) activities within the organisation. This individual will serve as a key member of the senior management team, providing leadership, guidance, and expertise to ensure that the company operates within the bounds of UK laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures tailored to the UK property investment and development finance sectors.
- Assess the potential impact of regulatory changes on company operations and provide strategic advice to senior management.
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with property investment and development finance activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and the Board of Directors on compliance-related matters, highlighting key issues and developments.
- Serve as the MLRO and ensure compliance with all UK AML regulations, including the detection and reporting of suspicious activities.
- Implement and maintain robust AML controls and procedures to prevent money laundering
- Prepare accurate and timely reports for submission to regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with UK reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure that IT systems and infrastructure comply with relevant data protection laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with product development teams to incorporate compliance considerations into the design and implementation of new products and services, from inception through launch and ongoing maintenance.
- Conduct reviews and assessments of product documentation, marketing materials, and customer communications to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure effective communication and training programs to promote awareness and understanding of compliance requirements among employees.
- Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organisation, fostering a commitment to integrity and accountability.
Experience:
- Experience working in a Senior role in Compliance, AML, or related roles within the UK property investment and development finance sectors.
- Strong understanding of UK laws and regulations governing property investment, development finance, and AML compliance.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective compliance programs and policies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of compliance and professionalism.
