Location: Hybrid / London, EC4A and homeworkingReporting to: Executive Director of EngagementContract: Full-time, permanentThe opportunityThe successful candidate will be an ambitious communications leader with exposure to or an interest in the social finance sector, and experience in setting and implementing communications strategies that convey complex concepts clearly to a range of audiences. Collaborative and inclusive, they will also bring outstanding management and influencing skills.Key internal responsibilitiesleading, motivating, and championing the communications team acting as a professional role model, while ensuring colleagues’ continuing professional development;contributing as a member of the Senior Management Team to the governance of the wider organisation and the development of a new 5-year strategy to be launched in 2025;taking overall responsibility for the growth and development of the Big Society Capital website, social media and other digital communication channels;overseeing integrated marketing communications campaigns (including public and media relations campaigns), with team leads where relevant, to raise awareness and support engagement with Big Society Capital’s activities;ensuring research is carried out to monitor Big Society Capital’s brand, reputation and the effectiveness of its communications as well as gain stakeholder insightmanaging internal communication and ensuring the interface between the organisation’s leadership and its employees is effective;ensuring everyone is kept up to date with key activities and events;working with the HR team to optimising employee engagement through internal communications.Key external responsibilitiesdeveloping and delivering the current communications strategy to ensure a flow of content to raise awareness and improve understanding of social impact investment, Big Society Capital and its work amongst its priority audiences;taking overall responsibility for all engagement with the Government both national and local as well as policy makers especially at a time of political change, as well as relevant international bodies to support our work;taking overall responsibility for all engagement with the media, including media releases, media contacts and relationships, briefings and press conferences;supporting spokespeople for Big Society Capital and act as the main point of contact for communication matters with partners and stakeholder organisations;supporting the growth of the publicly listed SBSI Impact Trust working with our partner Schroders to provide marketing insight and content;creating and leading an effective PR programme to raise the profile and understanding of Big Society Capital and social impact investment with key stakeholders;developing and maintaining effective business relationships with marketing and communications supplies and advisers to ensure best value for money.Don’t meet every requirement? Colleagues typically spend 40% - 60% of their working hours in the office, and the remainder from home.
