A leading multi-national Defence company are recruiting for a Head of Commercial in Bristol on a fulltime permanent basis.

The Head of Commercial will be responsible to lead commercial function providing strategic initiatives, team management and working closely / collaborating relationships with key stakeholders to ensure commercial governance, compliance alongside company policies and procedures.

Salary - �70,000-�90,000 (DOE) + benefits

Key responsibilities for Head of Commercial / Head of Contracts and not be limited to:

  • Build and maintain key commercial stakeholder relationships, including customers, suppliers, to promote the business unit, raise its profile and to ensure it successfully enters into contracts and transacts business in an appropriate, profitable and consistent manner in accordance with the law and corporate governance obligations.
  • Manage, coach and motivate the commercial team in order to develop their performance, maximise their effectiveness and ensure company values, ethical standards, organisational vision, policies and procedures and legal and contractual requirements are adhered to at all times.
  • Agree and manage the Commercial budget, ensuring the delivery of cost-effective services and solutions that add value.
  • Provide commercial support and advice to the BU to contribute to ensuring the appropriate balance of risk and reward and adherence to all relevant legislation, requirements and standards.
  • Lead the scoping and agreement, including contract negotiation, for complex subcontracts ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, timelines and end customer requirements.
  • Support partnering strategy and negotiate teaming agreements to support the effective tendering process.
  • Lead bid governance ensuring requirements are met to optimise success and company profitability and a consistent approach is taken in line with relevant standards.
  • Draft, review and negotiate contractual Terms and Conditions, contract changes with customers and major sub-contractors to manage commercial risk effectively.
  • Review bid process, delivery performance and market information to provide advice and feedback to ensure continuous improvement, application of best practice and learning from experience.
  • Develop pricing strategy and build pricing model for bids to ensure profitable business and competitive offers.
  • Review financial reporting and customer messaging on projects and make recommendations to ensure effective delivery.

Key skills and experience required for Head of Commercial / Head of Contracts role and not limited to:

  • Experienced within a senior commercial management role
  • Defence sector experience is preferred
  • Good communication skills and team player
  • Must be eligible to gain UK Security (SC) clearance
