Head of book publishing

Monocle is seeking a full-time head of book publishing – to be based at our London offices. Monocle publishes a series of hardback books every year – these have included “Handbooks” on Spain and Portugal, a guide to the best places to swim around the world, large-format books on Japan and residential design, and a book for entrepreneurs. Produced in partnership with Thames & Hudson, our books are distributed worldwide and are a key part of Monocle’s business.The position will involve managing a team in London and working with Monocle’s editors and correspondents around the globe to deliver titles that offer detailed information and glorious visuals. You will need to be a good editor and writer and be passionate about book publishing – you will work directly with numerous partners. And you will also know how to run a budget.While this position would be ideal for an experienced books editor, it would also suit someone who has had a successful editing career in magazines or newspapers. You will need to be flexible with your time, and happy to travel internationally when needed.
