Head of Apprenticeship Programmes

We are seeking a lead person to assist us with delivery of our skills programs in the, taking on the management and overseeing of apprenticeships within the company. This will include management of direct delivery, subcontract management, as well as working with the Senior Leadership Team and Executive Team within the business to deliver an expert level deliver of apprenticeships. This is a vital leadership role within the organisation, and you will work to drive and implement growth ensuring quality, compliance and customer service are at the core of what we do. You will have key responsibility in shaping our brand and have full responsibility for all activities regarding apprenticeships.



To lead, develop and manage the Pathway Groups direct and subcontracted delivery under our apprenticeship programme offer to ensure the effective planning, development, promotion, and delivery of high-quality apprenticeship provision that meets industry/employer needs and requirements, motivates and engages apprentices to achieve and progress beyond their expectations and supports the achievement of Pathway’s vision, core purpose and institutional objectives to become an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated provider for our direct and subcontracted apprenticeship provisions.



Key Expertise Areas



Apprenticeship recruitment, selection and management including due-diligence.



Strong and thorough knowledge of the Apprenticeship, Further Education and Adult Skills Sectors.



Strong and thorough knowledge of local employer skills needs by sector and the use of local labour market information in designing apprenticeship programmes.



Lead on Compliance, Quality, Curriculum, and the Customer Experience.



Contract Implementation, delivery, performance, and reporting.



Strong overseer, ensuring the timely delivery with financial constraints in mind.



Up to date and expert level knowledge of the ESFA current funding rules.



Robust understanding and experience of Ofsted Education inspection Framework for Apprenticeships.





Qualification Requirements





Mandatory



As a minimum a formal leadership qualification at level 5 or higher



An IQA Qualification



Level 2 or higher Safeguarding, Prevent and EDI training





Advantage



CIPD/ILM/CILM management qualifications



Coaching and mentoring qualification



Education and Training (EAT) Level 3+



IAG qualifications

Financial accountabilities




  1. To develop, manage and achieve agreed financial revenue profiles.

  2. To ensure compliance with apprenticeship funding rules, timeliness of claims and represent the organisation through funder auditing processes managing financial risks and preventing errors leading to clawback situations.

  3. To be accountable for allocated aspects of Pathway’s apprenticeship delivery within the agreed operating budget.

To manage the Apprentice Employer Relationship Manager

Duties and responsibilities



Lead and inspire Pathway Group’s apprenticeship programme delivery teams to support the achievement of the Pathway Group’s vision, core purpose and institutional objectives.



External stakeholder engagement and management as appropriate to the role to support the achievement of the Pathway Group’s vision, core purpose and institutional objectives.



Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of The Pathway Group’s apprenticeship provision to ensure that the Pathway Group’s apprenticeship programmes meet the needs of the industry/employers, engage, and motivate apprentices, and provide progression pathways for apprentices.



Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of The Pathway Group’s apprenticeship provision to ensure that the Pathway Group’s apprenticeship programmes meet Ofsted Inspection Framework requirements for ‘Outstanding’ intention, implementation and impact.



Monitor and report on the performance of The Pathway Group’s apprenticeship programme delivery teams in relation to set targets and other KPIs.



Lead on maximising the satisfaction of apprentices in the National Student Survey (NSS), The Pathway Group’s Student Experience Survey (SES) and ESFA Learner Satisfaction Survey.



Lead on maximising the satisfaction of apprentice employers in the ESFA Employer Satisfaction Survey.



Resource planning and recruitment of staff.



Line management of allocated staff, including Performance and Development Review (PDR), 1:1s, approval of annual leave, review and approval of expenses claims.



Lead on new apprenticeship development and approval and the annual and periodic review of existing programmes.



Lead on teaching physical and online resources (E-portfolio, Learner management systems, learn er communication systems, Learner management systems, Learner VLE etc.



Plan and/or undertake observation of teaching learning and assessment activity in accordance with The Pathway Group’s requirements.



Plan and support apprentice employer engagement as necessary.



Plan and support apprentice resourcing, recruitment and selection as necessary.



Plan and support apprentice initial assessment, induction, and onboarding activity as necessary.



Lead on the development/updating of programme handbooks and employer-facing support materials as necessary, including ensuring appropriate Schemes of Work, Lesson Plans, teaching materials remain current and relevant.



Support the implementation of outstanding, Enrichment Activities; British and Cultural values; Personal development; Attitudes and behaviours; integrated Maths; Integrated English; Integrated essential digital skills , in liaison with Pathway Group staff with designated responsibilities for apprenticeship delivery standards (Apprenticeship Standard Lead).



Plan and support apprenticeship specific IQA activity, and learner progress monitoring.



Work in liaison with the Pathway Group’s Quality and Compliance Team to implement quality frameworks and systems that ensure consistently high performance is achieved across The Pathway Group’s apprenticeship provision.



Lead on allocated aspects of self-assessment/self-evaluation and improvement planning activity for the apprenticeship programme specifically and contribute to the Pathway Group wider SAR and QIP activity.



Investigate and respond to employer and apprentice complaints/concerns and Thank you’s celebrating successes and investigating, addressing and resolving issues raised and reporting lessons learned.



Development, review and updating of marketing collateral for allocated programmes.



Support business planning and budget setting activity.



Support the compliance of the Pathway Group’s apprenticeship provision and operations with ESFA requirements and partnership lead provider requirements.



Manage allocated apprenticeship operations within the set budget.



Be accountable for securing employee satisfaction scores within allocated staff team(s) in accordance with institutional objectives.



Support the implementation of outstanding Safeguarding and Prevent practice (including health, safety, and welfare) across The Pathway Group’s apprenticeship team, in liaison with Pathway Group staff with designated responsibilities for Safeguarding.



Support the integration of Pathway’s apprenticeship provision into the Pathway Group’s core business.



Provide cover for the Ofsted Nominee where required.



Other relevant duties as required.
