Founded in 2014, Petalite is a second-generation electric vehicle (EV) charging company whose mission is to solve the challenges impeding the roll-out of charging infrastructure, helping accelerate the world’s transition to net zero.

We are looking to recruit a Hardware Team Lead to lead and direct complex electrical and electronics engineering projects.
Your responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of electrical and electronic hardware systems, ensuring they meet project specifications, safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Define the strategy of the electronics team, including on boarding of new hires, defining objectives, identifying skills gaps and appropriate training.
Take charge of engineering projects from concept through to production, managing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
Prepare detailed technical documentation, including specifications, schematics, and design reports, ensuring the documentation is comprehensive, accurate and organised.
Ensure verification and validation documents meets design requirements.
Oversee the creation of prototypes, evaluating the performance, reliability and that safety requirements are met.

Petalite is based in Birmingham B7 4BA, the role will require on-site attendance and be able to offer a hybrid working style with flexible start and finish times.
Candidates will need a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, project management skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable, and innovative solutions.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in hardware development within an automotive, aerospace or consultancy environment, with knowledge of legislative requirements, high speed design, analogue, power electronics and EMC.
Substantial experience in a Senior Engineering role, with a track record of successfully leading electrification projects.
