Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
To support our journey and rapid growth, we are looking for a Hardware Optimisation Engineer to join us and help drive our mission to develop highly efficient, light weight solutions for the electrification of aerospace. Reporting to our Hardware Team Lead, you will provide support across projects and teams in developing simulations and optimisations for our Motor Control Unit (MCU) and other products.
Key responsibilities include:
Optimising high power density converter designs
Performing design, simulation and validation of MCUs
Developing the methodologies, tools and processes for hardware optimisations
Creating simulations and models of the MCU hardware including EMI filters, busbars, DC link capacitors, power modules/switches, PCBAs, sensors
Identification and selection of components for MCU applications
Working with the Hardware, Software, Motor Control and Mechanical Design Teams to develop optimised solutions for power density, mass, efficiency, size etc.
Supporting the Hardware Team in executing the design, development, testing and validation of MCUs
Providing expertise and knowledge of power, analogue and digital electronics, component characterisation and simulations to the electronics team and across the business to develop future motor control units for aerospace applications
Following industry trends and new technologies in power electronics.
Skills and experience required:
Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
Previous proven experience in a similar role
Experience and knowledge of inverter motor controllers
Previous proven experience of the design of inverters for motor control
Experience in modelling and simulation of motor controllers and power electronics
Experience in modelling and simulation of analogue and digital electronics and PCBs
Experience of simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, Simetrix, MATLAB/Simulink)
Good understanding of electronics component models
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams
Experienced in interfacing with customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors
Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-evolving environment and industry
Willingness to travel as required.

Knowledge / Experience of applicable aerospace standards an advantage, such as:
