The successful candidate will join our client's UK L-Band Centre of Excellence, developinghigh-quality electronics hardware for their L-Band Terminal portfolio. Reporting to theEngineering Manager, they'll design and develop digital and analogue hardware modules,ensuring adherence to cost, schedule, and quality standards. Working collaboratively withcross-functional teams across UK and South Korea, they'll oversee the entire productlifecycle, driving continuous improvement and ensuring designs meet performanceRequirements Before Transitioning To Mass Production. Responsibilities Include Customerneeds analysis, systems engineering, design, testing, quality assurance, and productiontransfer.Core CompetenciesTechnical Responsibilities:Designing and documenting analogue and digital hardware solutions thatmeet requirements, size constraints, manufacturing cost, EMI/EMCcompliance, and manufacturability.Taking complete ownership of the development process from concept toboard, through to mass production transfer, including analysis of customerspecifications, subsystem and detailed design, design integration andqualification, and monitoring the design into production.Applying excellent knowledge of trade-offs involved in developing hardwarefor small and lightweight products.Building, testing, and verifying performance of designs using variousmethods including benchtop measurements and integrated system testing.Applying in-depth knowledge of best practices and engineering judgment tomake design decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems inelectronic hardware development, manufacturing, technology, orengineering.Researching new and novel design solutions that provide desired orimproved performance within the constraints of overall productrequirements.Understanding the mechanical structure impact on board design andEMI/EMC and collaborating with other engineers to resolve technicalconflicts and trade-offs.Utilizing a comprehensive understanding of Satellite CommunicationTerminals and Radio systems to ensure complete system requirements aremet.Developing clear and detailed documentation and presenting work tostakeholders as required.Supporting all documentation and testing required for regulatory approvals,certification, and qualification of the products.Collaborating closely with the Korea HQ team to support QA and productionof the design.The Hardware Engineer WillDevelop high-performance, reusable analogue and digital hardwaremodules in L-Band for our range of satellite user terminals.Be involved in the entire product lifecycle, refining productspecifications, producing innovative designs, estimatingcomplexity/work, troubleshooting issues, and engaging with amultidisciplinary team.Work closely with the systems team on defining performancerequirements.Provide training and technical support as required to other teammembers.Work within an enthusiastic multidisciplinary engineering team toexpand and enhance competence.Experience - Mandatory5+ years of proven engineering experience in a digital and analoguehardware development environment.Electronics hardware design (analogue, digital, and power supplies),development, testing, and integration following industry best practices.Experience designing for EMI/EMC requirements and debugging relatedissues.Experience with large, complex designs requiring multi-layer PCBs and PCBstackup design.Excellent knowledge of Microprocessors, programmable devices, FPGA,memory devices, and power supply units.Developing design documentation such as specifications, design reports,electrical schematic diagrams, PCB project files, development testplans/reports, and bill of materials.Preparing prototype (analogue/digital) equipment designs, sourcingparts/materials, assembling, integrating, and testing against engineeringspecifications.Excellent design, debugging, failure analysis, and problem-solving abilities.Excellent ability to clearly articulate problems and solutions to bothtechnical and non-technical audiences.Experience in prototyping, design for manufacturing, design for cost, handson hardware system rework and modifications, digital test andmeasurement equipment, and design robustness analysis.Experience - DesirablePrior experience in satellite/terrestrial communications terminal design.Providing technical input and assisting with the development of system-levelarchitectures.Experience with Iridium, Inmarsat, and/or Thuraya terminal developments.Experience with RF test and measurement equipment.QualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree in electronic/electrical engineering or a similardiscipline.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influenceand negotiate with stakeholders across the business.
