Role Overview:
This is an opportunity for an experienced Group Reporting Manager, big four trained qualified accountant to join the Group finance team of a fast-paced FTSE 100 Plc.
Reporting to the Head of Group Reporting with responsibility for a team of 4-5 people. The role involves liaising with the wider divisional finance teams and other stakeholders, to manage the Group consolidated results on a monthly basis. The role is key to ensuring the accuracy and maintenance of the Group Management accounts and the timely reporting of the Group results for the Annual Report and Interim Results.
The role works very closely with divisional finance, FP&A and tax teams to deliver accurate and insightful reporting both internally and externally. Problem solving, interpersonal skills and a ' can-do ' attitude is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Month end reporting
Managing and performing the consolidation of the Group financial accounts on a monthly basis including the preparation of supporting files and posting of group adjustments.
Directing and coordinating the loading of data including review of monthly information provided to the Group team (prepared in consolidation systems - Cognos Controller and TM1).
Commercial review of monthly input from subsidiary companies.
Ensure internal controls are documented as well as compliance with accounting standards.
Preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts for the Plc under IFRS (year-end & interims)
Oversight and responsibility for the preparation of areas of the financial statements and other regulatory reports within Group Reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to the relevant stakeholders, working closely with the external auditors.
Review and data extraction/analysis to assist with the preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts for the Plc under IFRS (year-end & interims).
Coordination and preparation of supporting files and papers for audit.
Preparation and review of financial information for ad-hoc requests and external announcements/presentations.
Other
Involvement in ad-hoc projects to continuously drive efficiencies and process improvements across all workstreams.
Involvement in the preparation/review of annual impairment reviews for the intangible assets and investments held in associates and joint ventures.
Managing and mentoring a team of 4-5 with varying experience levels.
Skills
Experience working within Group Reporting management, preferably within a Listed company achieved in industry (retail experience is advantageous).
Must be a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA), Big 4 trained, as an auditor or technical accountant, with 3-5 years PQE and a well-respected degree.
A technically strong accountant able to interpret and articulate complex accounting guidance clearly in a clear and concise manner in both written and verbal formats, with an excellent technical knowledge base in IFRS and FRS 101/102.
Experience in the production of and/or audit of Plc accounts.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of financial reporting.
Proactive, organised, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently and a willingness to learn and work with initiative.
Have a commercial outlook and an understanding of how accounting standards are applied in a commercial retail context.
Good interpersonal communication skills in order to build and maintain relationships within Head Office and local subsidiary teams as well as external stakeholders (e.g. auditors).
