Group Health and Safety Manager
Location: Remote with travel to Civica sites
Type: Permanent
Policies:
Understand and stay abreast of health and safety (H&S) laws, regulations and standards in the geographies where Civica offices are located.
Maintain, update, and implement health and safety policies and procedures in alignment with these requirements.
Training and Awareness:
Foster a culture of health, safety and well-being through training and awareness and the enablement of Group-wide feedback mechanisms.
Ensure compliance training requirements are met and sufficient records retained.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
Establish and oversee incident reporting and investigation procedures including identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Risk Management:
Conduct internal audits and regular risk assessments against appropriate frameworks to identify potential hazards in Civica facilities/hubs.
Where necessary collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective mitigation activities.
Emergency Preparedness:
Ensure the development and maintenance of Emergency Preparedness Plans for each Civica facility/hub ensuring that exercises are carried out to ensure processes are understood in the event of an emergency.
Continuous improvement:
Lead and coordinate cross-organisational H&S Committee meetings with clear programme of activities, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
Management Reporting:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the health and safety program ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks and reporting standards.
Chair monthly H&S management review meeting and provide monthly reporting to senior leadership teams, including reporting to the Board.
Stakeholder support:
Provide H&S related advice and information to support sales/tenders/security questionnaires and ESG reporting requirements.
Vendor management:
Collaborate with Procurement to ensure the safety of suppliers and contractors.
Manage the relationship with external H&S consultants.
Cross Group Coordination:
Ensure that the activities of H&S representatives at each of Civica's sites are coordinated to meet agreed objectives.
Essential Competencies:
Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of Health and Safety environments, relevant regulations and reporting standards, in particular UK H&S regulations.
Willingness and ability to understand and align to regulatory and legislative requirements in all geographies in which Civica operates, recognising similarities between requirements, and driving global approach where applicable.
Strong strategic planning and execution abilities, with a track record of driving measurable impact and change.
Collaborative and influential management style, capable of fostering cross-functional teamwork and driving alignment toward H&S goals.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences.
Able to travel to Civica locations across the UK.
Preferred Skills:
Experience of H&S management/compliance in the geographies in which Civica operates
Knowledge of ISO standards relating to Health and Safety (ISO 45001) and Environment (ISO14001)
Professional qualification in Health and Safety (e.g.: NEBOSH, CSP)
