Group FP&A Manager – Ipswich or Hitchin based
Crane Building Services & Utilities (Crane BS&U) design and manufacture a range of engineered flow control products and solutions for the heating, ventilation, and utility sectors and are a subdivision of Crane Co., listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Crane BS&U is headquartered in Ipswich and has some 500 associates based in Ipswich, Hitchin, and Northampton as well as overseas in the UAE and China.

Reporting to the VP Finance and IT this role will provide finance support to the Building Services and Utilities businesses and supporting functions of this £100m turnover business. The Group FP&A Manager will need to actively influence the performance of the business by providing business partnering, timely high quality management information, insight and analytics. This role will be fully involved in all aspects of the P&L and balance sheet for the business which will include managing standard costs and inventory management. There will also be a requirement to support the monthly financial reporting and close process from a transactional perspective.
Responsibilities include:
Act as a business partner to the senior leadership team supporting overall achievement of the business and its strategic objectives while supporting delivery of the annual performance results including sales, operating profit and free cash flow.
As a partner to the VP GMs provide variance analysis to compare actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights into the reasons behind the discrepancies.
Writing meaningful commentaries on performance including actual results and variances to plan, forecast and prior year.
Provide functional leadership to the FP&A team.Directly manage three direct reports conducting regular 121s, annual appraisals and IC deck completion along with developing meaningful development and succession plans.
As a key business leader, champion and identify continuous improvement initiatives, driving necessary change and improvement to enhance productivity, process improvements, automation leading to (but not limited to) enhanced financial reporting.
Responsibility for the annual standard cost rolls across the sites and inventory controls at the sites to comply with the risk control matrix and Sarbanes Oxley.
Evaluate proposed capital investments; including financial analysis to assess feasibility and potential impact of projects on the financial performance.
Responsibility of the month end reporting process including completion of the Presidents Performance Report for review by the VP Finance and IT and President.
Completion of the annual strategic plan financials.
Coordinate and lead the forecast and operating plan including pulling financials together and reporting that is required within the timeframes needed.
Maintain and support a monthly cadence of pulse, forecast and plan performance analysis with scenario modelling that enables the business to implement quick counter measures for improved financial performance.
Support the business in cost control to ensure we remain focused on driving profitable growth.
The successful candidate will be CIMA/ACCA qualified with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. A strong background in managing teams with a clear passion for developing people is key, as is role modelling a ‘can-do’ positive attitude. The ability to perform well under pressure while working to reporting deadlines is also essential.
