Find out more about our values and the benefits of becoming a ‘bigworder’ here: Role UnveiledAs the Group Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial activities of our organisation and lead all teams within the department. Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial reporting across our group. In this hand-on role, you will lead the day-to-day operations in addition to providing strategic financial guidance to senior management, and drive initiatives to optimise financial performance and accuracy in reporting.This is a Hybrid Role, with your time split between home and our amazing office in Leeds!Your Role in ActionManagement Accounts & FP&A:Manage the output of the management accounts team, ensuring accuracy in reporting and P&L reviews.Collaborate with department heads to ensure the outputs from the Finance department align with the requirements of each division, and overall company objectives.Support the finance team and the Group Finance Director to develop and oversee financial processes to ensure accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial reporting.Provide insightful analysis of financial performance, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks. Ensure the monthly management accounts are accurately provided in line with the company deadline.Accounts Payable & Credit Control:Support the Finance Manager (Transaction Team) with processes, escalations, and day-to-day intricacies of the transactions team, across our multiple internal systems.Help to implement and improve processes and manage and ensure success across the teams KPIs.Financial Reporting and Compliance:Ensure the Finance Manager prepares timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements, across the entire department. Ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.Sign off the UK Payroll and support the Global Payroll Manager as required.Tax Planning and Compliance:In collaboration with the team, ensure compliance with all group returns and tax filing deadlines around the various countries we operate, working with local Finance Team members.Coordinate with external tax advisors and authorities on tax planning, reporting, and audits.Stakeholder Relations:Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, board members, investors, lenders, and regulatory authorities.Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing financial insights, recommendations, and strategic guidance to support decision-making and drive performance.Represent the finance function in meetings, presentations, and negotiations to articulate the group's financial position, strategies, and goals effectively.Team Leadership and Development:Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals across Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Management Accounts, Payroll, Taxation, Financial Planning & Analysis, and our global teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Provide guidance and support to team members, empowering them to achieve their full potential and contribute to the success of the organisation.The Perfect Match: Your Skills & TalentsWe’re looking for someone who has prior experience in this role, or a similar role, with experience of private equity, debt management and lenders, managing a relatively complex multi-national group structure, and working with the USA. Experience of using CODA is desirable but not essential.You will hold an ACCA, ACA, CIMA, and have a deep understanding of financial principles, including analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting. Strong leadership skills to mentor a multi-national team, excellent communication to convey complex financial information, and strong analytical and strategic thinking are essential.You will also have knowledge of regulatory requirements for financial reporting, tax, and audits, and the ability to manage relationships with auditors, bankers, and other advisors. Flexibility, attention to detail, sound judgment, and ethical conduct are crucial.
