Company DescriptionAnalyst, Group Accounting is responsible for conducting accurate and timely accounting duties, including preparing financial reports, participating in audits, and managing financial transactions at the group level.Analyst, Group Accounting will report directly to the Head of Group Accounting & Reporting.Please note this role can be fully remoteYou might not have heard of us but we've probably met without you even realising it. We're the UK's largest commercial news publisher, home to the UK and Ireland's most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers.From the Mirror, Daily Express and OK!, to our regional titles such as the Liverpool Echo, MyLondon, Birmingham Live and the Manchester Evening News (plus lots more), our brands and the stories we cover are as varied as our people.Job DescriptionManaging financial transactions and accounting tasks across the group including pensions, leases and fixed assets.Preparing financial statements, income statements, and balance sheets for subsidiary entities.Participating in monthly financial close processes.Conducting monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting.Assisting with budget preparation and forecasting at a group level.Enhancing and implementing financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.Supporting new business initiatives by providing accurate financial analysis and insights.Participating in internal and external audits and implementing audit recommendations.Collaborating with other departments to share financial data and improve financial processesQualificationsSkillsStrong understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and practices.Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data.Attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to plan and organise efficiently.Strong numerical competence.Good knowledge of financial software applications.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
