Join us in a world where excellence knows no boundaries!Job DescriptionThis role is a permanent full-time position, working a 37.5 hour week, flexibly between Monday – Friday 07:00 – 19:00The purpose of this job is to perform process chemistry, developing reactions, isolations and purification of chemical entities and characterisation associated with project demands and build process understanding and control to meet project demands. Ensuring a reaction route offers the best balance between operational, environment, legal and economic factors at the present scientific knowledge level.Plan, define and execute synthetic processes that apply green chemistry principles to the synthesis of functional materials for use in product formulations, aligned with project demands using traditional and modern analytical techniques, as required by the Group Leader or customer representative under direction.Build process understanding of key data, e.g. mechanisms, loss to liquors, solution yields and transfer findings to the project representative.Build understanding in having in place all necessary safety / COSHH information in line with reaction progressions.Generate complete characterisation data for materials made, including performance testing in relevant formulations where necessary.To prepare and report findings and approve data in which they have received the appropriate training and are deemed competent.To learn to deal with customer queries and contact designated personnel, with appropriate support from Group Leader, with any relevant information or issues relating to results or the service in general.QualificationsA degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is required.A fundamental knowledge of Synthetic Organic Chemistry is essential with emphasis on green chemistry principles.Up to 2 years’ relevant experience of synthetic chemistry in a development laboratory.Good foundational experience with traditional analytical techniques as well as modern instrumental equipment (HPLC, GC, LC/MS, NMR).
