Are you looking to begin or develop your experience in a range of urban and rural planning issues?
An opportunity has arisen within our friendly and proactive Development Management Section for a Graduate Planning Officer/Planning Officer.
Rugby is one of the fastest growing towns in the country and is set to grow by 30% by 2035. Located in the county of Warwickshire, near the cities of Coventry and Leicester, with direct rail links to London and Birmingham and within “the golden triangle” of the strategic road network, Rugby’s accessibility is one of the key attributes making it a great place to live and work.
Depending on your knowledge and experience your main responsibilities will be the processing of a range of planning applications and associated consents, including providing pre-application advice on proposed applications, assessing, preparing and presenting reports on planning applications and representing the Council in any appeals. As a pro-growth authority there is plenty of opportunities to get involved with housing, retail and employment developments.
Explaining every step of the planning process to our customers is vital to our success, and your achievements will be based not only on your ability to do your job but also on putting customer service at the heart of everything you do.
You will need to have a relevant degree, knowledge of the current planning legislation and possess excellent communication and advisory skills. For the Planning Officer role, a professional qualification (or be close to achieving such a qualification) or appropriate experience would also be expected.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is essential.
Our offices are located in Rugby Town Centre and there is also the opportunity to work from home for some of the time during the working week.
