About the Role

We are seeking only the brightest Graduate Developer to join our award-winning, market-leading Technology Team within the Forge Holiday Group.

Please note: this position is based at our Chester head office, therefore candidates must be within commutable distance. Candidates must also hold the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship.
Paying a salary between £25,000 and £30,000 per annum working / 37.5 hours per week / Monday-Friday.
Plus access to our annual STIP (annual company-wide bonus) scheme with an additional 10% of your salary
33 days annual leave including bank holidays
Plus an additional day off for your Birthday
Plus an additional two volunteering days per year

Your Responsibilities

Your newest career within our team will see you:
Create well crafted, scalable and resilient solutions used both by colleagues and the public
Own the delivery of software into the business
Participate in sprint planning to deliver regular iterations, and retrospectives to improve our processes
Promote software development best practices
Collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify ambiguous requirements and taking corrective action for issues in production
Perform exploratory work to investigate new technologies that we can leverage to solve business problems, as well as sizing changes to our existing platform
Reviewing colleagues code submissions, coaching enhancements, encouraging standards and identifying bugs
Skills and Qualifications
We want to hear from those with a true passion for tech, who are always interested in the latest trends and innovations and are looking to take their first steps within the world of Development!
In return we will ensure we provide you with everything you need to progress you growing technical skills, showcasing your unique skills and witness your talents grow, learning from some of the most talented and knowledgeable tech professionals in the North West!
Ongoing support will be provided to ensure you reach your potential, however we look for the following to give you a head start:
An interest in solving complex problems
A passion to learn and an interest in cutting-edge technologies
General software development experience with exposure to SQL, PHP, JAVA or other OO programming language
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work well in small teams
A Degree in Software Development or equivalent qualification
...although superstars will also have:
Experience of PHP MVC frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony or CodeIgniter
Experience of MySQL
Experience of React JS as well as other foundational front-end technologies e.g Vanilla Javascript/jQuery, HTML, CSS;
Experience of Agile development methodologies e.g. Scrum
Experience with REST APIs including less common HTTP Verbs.
Experience with many aspects of Amazon Web Services, ideally ECS
Docker containers
