Join Our Team as Graduate Consultant - Water Quality and Make a Difference!

Your main focus will be to attend and investigate water pollution incidents; undertake
field-based monitoring and collect environmental samples for laboratory analysis across the
Southern Water region.
35 hours per week; 9am until 5pm, five days per week (Monday to Friday), alongside a
requirement to be on a standby rota, 1 week in 6, for weekend/public holiday and evening work.
Overtime paid for instructed works during standby periods, all this will be planned in advance
for you!
More details about the role:
Attending and investigating water pollution incidents across the Southern Water region
Completing field monitoring works including water quality measurements and sampling
Completing data entry after collecting data in the field
Technical report writing in response to water pollution incidents, time limited in
accordance with client requirements
Maintaining all equipment needed for site and maintain cleanliness of vehicle to a high
standard and inform line manager if new equipment is needed
Providing accurate and timely information to line management
About you:
Degree in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline
Understanding of water chemistry and the indicative parameters
A full clean UK driving licence
Experience in scientific fieldwork, and an enthusiasm for working outdoors in all weathers
Competent user of Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail
Able to work independently and as part of a team following precise protocols
Motivated, friendly and confident interacting with clients
Experience of aquatic macro-invertebrate sampling and aquatic macro-invertebrate
identification skills to Family level would be beneficial
GIS skills desirable
Understanding of the role of regulators such as the Environment Agency
Laboratory analysis in environmental monitoring, and environmental compliance
