is a specialist land-based college delivering provision across five campuses in the North of England.With campuses in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Gateshead, we currently serve the education and training needs of around 3,500 students and deliver a wide-ranging curriculum offer.We were last inspected by Ofsted in September 2023 and graded as ‘Good’ with specific comments being made relating to how the college makes a strong contribution to meeting local and regional skills needs and also how the College does well in relation to supporting our students.Our further education provision includes specialist courses focused on subjects including arboriculture, horticulture, agriculture, animal management, veterinary science, countryside and the environment, and equine.We also deliver a range of curriculum outside of the traditional land-based theme, with courses in engineering, motorsport, outdoor adventure sport, sports development, coaching and fitness, and uniformed public services.“We have been on a significant journey as an organisation over recent years and what we have here now is simply a great place, with fantastic people who are highly committed to ensuring our students have the very best opportunities.” Dr Tim Whitaker, CEO & Principal We offer our provision across a range of levels too, supporting 16–18-year-olds – the majority of whom study at Level 3, and through our partnerships with local employers, we support between 500 – 600 apprentices. We deliver higher education to c.450 students each year and are the only land-based college to have its own degree awarding powers.In the next academic year, our curriculum offer will see further diversification as we begin the delivery of our first T Level in September 2024.Furthermore, we provide a range of adult learning and commercial provision which allows us to support the local communities that we serve.All of our work is delivered by a dedicated, experienced team of almost 480 staff who are each experts in their specific fields.Each of our staff members demonstrates our values and personal qualities daily — this is part of the Askham Bryan College DNA.It is hardwired into everything that we do and ensures that we all remain committed to delivering with purpose, taking ownership, building trust, and always learning.Our Askham Bryan College DNA is a golden thread that runs through the entire organisation and this includes our Board of Governors.Our Board is made up of a team of 12 dedicated volunteer members, along with staff and students who are each committed to values and to our shared goal of developing talent, to respond to current and future challenges for the economy and environment.The day-to-day management of the college is delivered by our executive team, led by CEO & Principal, Dr Tim Whitaker.
