This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the London/ Head Office. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arises.
The salary range for this role is set at £55,400 - £88,500

About the Role
The successful delivery of the Partnership strategy is critical to the continued success of the Partnership. At the heart of the Partnership Plan is the Transformation Team, responsible for the creation and successful delivery of a £500m+ annual portfolio plan as part of our multi-year journey. As we move into the next phase of our transformation, we have an opportunity for an experienced Portfolio Reporting & Management Information (MI) Manager to join our team.
The Partnership operating model is built around a "hub and spoke" model, with transformation teams in each of our lines of business (John Lewis, Waitrose, Financial Service, Pan-Partnership) connected to an efficient and effective enterprise hub. The Transformation Office (the enterprise "hub") is responsible for the planning, governance, performance management and reporting of the Partnership's £500m+ Change Portfolio, setting standards and owning the underpinning delivery framework and tools. With visibility of change across the Partnership, the Transformation Office will use data and analytics to provide a clear view of the momentum of the portfolio, and insight to recommend interventions, inform decision making, mitigate delivery risks and continuously improve our delivery engine.
The Governance, Assurance and Risk Manager is a key role in a new function as part of a refreshed operating model and a brilliant opportunity for the right person to come in and shape how the team operates. As part of the newly formed Transformation Office, this role will be responsible for providing comprehensive governance, risk, and assurance oversight and guidance throughout the Change Portfolio.
This involves closely monitoring and providing direction to ensure adherence to established governance parameters and decision making thresholds in a timely and accurate manner, with the overarching goal of safeguarding the successful delivery of projects within the Change Portfolio. You will also oversee the approvals and change control processes and own the Portfolio financial drawdown process, facilitating spend outlook and drawdown requirements across Lines of Business, working in close partnership with the Portfolio Finance Lead. You will also work with Finance to conduct regular reviews of the governance and decision making thresholds, and provide recommendations into the Quarterly Review process on any proposed changes.
You will take a proactive approach to identifying risks and issues, taking ownership of the Enterprise wide Portfolio Risks and Issue log, and managing mitigation activities to resolve complex issues/contentions. Working with your peers in the Transformation Office, and with the Transformation Squads in each Line of Business, you will provide oversight of in flight delivery risks, identifying themes and trends, and adjusting the enterprise portfolio risk outlook accordingly. You will also manage the Partnerships Principal Change Delivery Risk on behalf of the Chief Transformation & Technology Officer, working with senior stakeholders (Head of TxO and Change Profession, Transformation Director, etc) to define and agree the flight path to reach Board risk appetite providing oversight of all related activities. In addition, partnering with the Partnership Risk team, you will create a forward plan of quarterly and annual risk reviews, ensuring timely preparation and stakeholder engagement ahead of Exec and Board meetings.
You will be accountable for the Portfolio health assurance approach and plan, working closely with PMO Brand Leads to provide assurance that all activities align with established standards. You will also oversee the completion of audit actions across the Portfolio, programmes and projects.
This role will take on the responsibilities of the Change Lifecycle Management Manager once this separate (temporary) role is no longer required; this includes ownership of the end to end change lifecycle, ensuring the optimum delivery vehicle is applied, compliance with relevant sizing frameworks, and working in partnership with the Methods & Process team to facilitate regular review sessions to enable continuous improvement of the framework.
It will be critical for the role holder to have expertise in Governance, Assurance, Risk management and continuous improvement. In addition they will need to have excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders and have a relentless approach to high standards.
