DescriptionAbout this roleBusiness Unit Overview:The Global Indirect Tax Group is responsible for managing the VAT, GST and other indirect tax affairs for BlackRock globally. This includes managing group indirect tax policy, strategy, risk, technology, compliance and accounting.Purpose/Background:Sitting within BlackRock's Global Indirect Tax Group, and reporting to the Vice President of Global Indirect Policy and Governance, this role will play a critical part in supporting indirect tax policy, governance and advisory matters for BlackRock’s global business. The role offers the opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external; support with tax audits and other tax authority requests; provide indirect tax guidance to the BlackRock businesses; and be involved in a variety of project work – both indirect tax specific and firm-wide.We’re looking for a self-starting, highly skilled, qualified VAT professional, who is well organised, has very strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple work streams with varied deadlines.Key Responsibilities:Supporting indirect tax projects across a range of policy, compliance and technology initiativesSupporting indirect tax aspects of organisational initiatives, including group and organisational restructurings, expansion into new locations, new products and service offerings, M&A, etc.Supporting with tax audits, and BlackRock’s responses to tax authority requestsPreparing and maintaining VAT/GST guidance documents for use with the BlackRock businessProviding indirect tax advice to the BlackRock businesses, including on client billing and contract queriesReview of recovery rate and annual adjustment calculations and methodologiesEnhancing knowledge of indirect tax across the BlackRock business and providing guidance to business groupsSupporting digital VAT/GST reporting requirements, including in countries where new requirements are implementedExperience/Competencies:Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in VATAbility to clearly and confidently communicate in verbal and written formAbility to develop a network and collaborative working relationships across multiple teams internally, and with external tax advisorsHighly organised, strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple work streams with varied deadlinesAbility to manage and analyse large data setsTeam player, with an ability to adjust to change and the desire to take on responsibilityStrong problem solving and analytical skillsSkills/Qualifications:CTA preferred, however, strong candidates with an accounting qualification (CA/ACA or equivalent) or who are qualified by experience will also be consideredExperience working in a VAT advisory role (UK and/or international) preferred, but not essentialExperience working in Financial Services and/or a multinational organisation advantageousCompetent in use of Microsoft Excel, including the use of advanced formulas and pivot tablesOur benefitsTo help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of employee benefits including: retirement investment and tools designed to help you in building a sound financial future; access to education reimbursement; comprehensive resources to support your physical health and emotional well-being; family support programs; and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.Our hybrid work modelBlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all.
