Gilead makes it a priority to increase access to its medicines for people who can benefit from them, regardless of where they live or their economic status.Global Public Affairs & Government Affairs (PA & GA) Legal Business PartnerPosition Overview: The Global Public Affairs and Government Affairs (PA&GA) Legal Business Partner reports to the Head of the Global Affairs Legal Business Partner team, advising on legal issues for the global Public Affairs and Government Affairs organizations.Responsibilities:Act as the primary point of contact for key and relevant business counterparts in global Public Affairs and Government Affairs on legal matters, establishing a connection between legal expertise and business goals and align strategies with business objectivesProactively and reactively provide strategic legal advice tailored to business needs on a wide range of legal problems, tailored to the unique needs of the businessAdvise on strategies and interactions with policy makers, politicians, other public officials, patient advocacy groups, and the media across various activities including social media, grants, press releases, disease awareness campaigns, and public health policy collaboration.Lead on concept reviews of PA&GA-driven projects and support the development of PA&GA proposals, working in close conjunction with the relevant Therapeutic Area attorneys, country counsel, and other attorneys within Legal as well as the relevant Ethics & Compliance Advisors.Support the Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and General Counsel and her team in the Office of the General Counsel with legal review of activities, communications, and strategic materials, as well as acting as a single point of contact and coordinator with the rest of the legal organization for advice on these activitiesAlign the strategies and resources of the Legal department with business objectives, fostering collaboration and support across functions ensuring legal considerations are seamlessly integrated into all aspects of our operationsManage relationships with external counsel, ensuring effective collaboration, cost efficiency, and quality legal services, optimizing the value we receive from these external partnersStay abreast of relevant legal developments and industry trends, identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance department approachWork in partnership with the Office of Ethics and Compliance and other Legal teams to help ensure the organization operates within legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks, collaborating to minimize legal risks while promoting ethical conduct throughout the organizationRequirements:We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. Please see the following for the qualifications and skills we seek for this role.12 years of experience with a JD/Juris Doctorate or fully qualified legal credentials in one or more geographies of operations. Fully admitted to practice law in the respective country or jurisdiction.Fully admitted to practice law in the respective country or jurisdictionExtensive professional experience in-house in biotech, pharmaceuticals or other highly regulated industries or law firm advising in all relevant areas of practice for these industries, Ideally the majority of the years of career spent in-houseManagement experience and ability to mentor and supervise attorneys and staffExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English and ideally one or more other languages of the countries in which the company operatesKnowledge & Other RequirementsInvest time and effort in building strong relationships with business stakeholders. Act as a trusted advisor and cultivate a collaborative enviro. based on mutual respect and understanding.
