Position: Global Head of Maritime Chartering and Freight Operations
Location: Ideally based in Netherlands or other European locations
Salary: €150k to €200k per annum (higher based on experience/expertise), plus car, bonus, and benefits
Company Overview:
A substantial international organization, our client leads the industry with production capacity across four continents. They are a global producer and distributor of nitrogen and ammonia products, offering sustainable solutions to agricultural, transportation, and industrial customers worldwide.
Role Summary:
This role entails leading high-impact chartering and maritime freight initiatives within a commercial environment undergoing significant change. Reporting to the Global Commercial VP, you will be responsible for developing and executing the organization's vessel and freight strategy from both commercial and operational perspectives.
Responsibilities:
Lead chartering activities globally and regionally (deep sea and coasters) with a focus on wet bulk products and dry bulk
Develop and implement vessel and logistics strategies to support the trading portfolio efficiently
Establish long-term commercial bunker agreements and partnerships with liners and ship owners
Manage overall vessel strategy, chartering contracts, and market best practices
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including ship owners, operators, and authorities
Direct commercial chartering and freight initiatives, emphasizing contract management and cost optimization
Support business efforts in using ammonia as a fuel for shipping decarbonization
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in chartering and vessel management with a proven track record in commercial and operational activities. Degree qualification in chemical/mechanical/electrical engineering is preferred, along with expertise in handling gas/wet/liquid bulk products. Dry bulk experience is a plus.
