Global Data Engineering Manager

Main Purpose:As a Global Data Engineering Manager you will contribute to build and develop our enterprise data platform and related applications in a complex and demanding trading environment. The role will manage a global data engineering team responsible for the ingestion, management, and provision of market data, commodity related economic data, and commercial data for use by data scientists, traders, research analysts and operators.This presents an outstanding opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced commercial environment and play a pivotal role in a real-time, data-driven trading ecosystem.Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:7 years+ experience in relevant rolesFinancial market data ingestion, ETL / ELT pipeline development, data modelling and data provisioningAdvanced Python & SQLData quality managementAWS data stackExperience with data related to energy and metals commodities, power generation, weather data or shipping would be a plusKey ResponsibilitiesManagement of a global team of data engineersManagement and ongoing development of an enterprise data platform built on AWSDevelopment of new data products and services for commercial and operational teamsCompetenciesAbility to lead and mentor an international technical teamOutstanding ability to communicate effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders across business lines and technologyAbility to work in fast-paced and dynamic environmentStrong collaboration and teamworkAbility to tackle problems under pressureAbility to effectively prioritise tasks of high importanceKey Relationships and Department Overview:Key RelationshipsReport to Data Science and Engineering Head of EngineeringWork closely with trading technology application teamsWork closely with senior data scientists, data engineers, research analysts, and traders in a highly commercial environmentReporting StructureReporting directly to Data Science and Engineering Head of EngineeringDepartmentThe Data Science and Engineering team researches, develops and provides advanced analytics and enterprise data services to the trading business and other commercial operations at Trafigura. It is comprised of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Quantitative Finance experts.
