SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:
The Global Communications Manager (EMEA) will develop,
maintain
, and manage integrated communications plans and strategies that drive brand and product awareness and be the central liaison between Global and EMEA.
This role will help guide and train regional marketers and PR agencies while defining best practices and fostering collaboration. They will be key in developing messaging that resonates with EMEA press and reviewers.
The individual will be crucial in extending the brand’s reach to lifestyle, culture, entertainment, and mainstream consumer media outlets, as well as non-traditional PR outlets (TikTok/YouTube influencers and creators), while also fostering and improving relationships with traditional gaming and tech media.
This position will collaborate with the global marketing team (social, blog, partnerships, email), Global Category Brand Director and Managers, E&I (Esports & Influencer), and the sales teams to create best-in-class communications plans with results-oriented strategies and programs that increase brand awareness among consumers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist
with the development of marketing communications plans for the brand and new product launches, including strategies, goals, and tactics.
Develop and
maintain
media relationships seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast, and online media, as well as non-traditional media outlets (TikTok/YouTube influencers and creators).
Coordinate EMEA public relations activities and collaborate with EMEA regional marketers to coordinate and lead activities.
Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within lifestyle, entertainment, mainstream consumer, and industry media.
Draft press materials including press releases, review guides, media alerts, and regional PR plans.
Monitor, analyze, and communicate monthly PR results with a clear understanding and definition of KPIs.
Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting news cycles, key media
(tech/gaming/lifestyle/mainstream,
and non-traditional PR outlets (YouTube/
Tiktok
/Instagram tech reviewers) and make
appropriate recommendations
to adjust the communication strategies accordingly.
REGIONAL FOCUS
The Global Communications Manager (EMEA) will help guide the regional marketers and PR agencies, defining best practices and fostering collaboration to increase the quality and quantity of coverage for SteelSeries.
Assist the Global PR Director with the implementation of the brand PR approach
(Hero/Always-On/Newsjacking)
across EMEA.
Act as a thought leader and provide ideation for media mapping, media pitching, and securing regional coverage.
Deliver NPI briefings and support EMEA marketing teams with localized PR activities.
Help create a global and regional coverage reporting system with defined KPIs.
Collaborate with the Global PR Director for localized event
planning/execution/attendance
– e.g., EMEA media tours, German Gamescom, Insomnia,
Dreamhack
, The International, etc.
GLOBAL SUPPORT
Analyze business needs and the evolving media landscape to help create
strategic PR plans that ladder up to our business pillars (premium
brand/lifestyle/innovation/esports)
and make an impact on our marketing priorities (base business growth/new categories/affinity among core gamers/strong brand equity/premier esports brand/dominate channel).
Draft
PR materials (media pitches, press releases, review guides, PR plans, Q&A docs, etc.), conduct media outreach,and help manage media requestsand special projects.
Create e
vergreen content stories that
ladder
up to our vision to be the global leader in gaming peripherals and the most associated with esports, innovation, and lifestyle.
Foster relationships with English-speaking and cross-over media outlets, e.g.,
PC Gamer, Kotaku, Eurogamer, etc.
Quarterly visits to HQ to
assist
with QPM planning and general strategy meetings to plan quarterly/ /yearly projects for brand initiatives, campaigns, and NPIs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Communications
, PR, or related field.
5 to
10
years of experience with an in-house or PR agency.
Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint,
Cision
, etc.).
Experience and established media relationships in esports, gaming, tech, consumer electronics media, and YouTube influencers and creators.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluent in English.
Understanding of digital
marketing/advertising,
social media, and integrated media sponsorship is preferred.
WITHIN 1 MONTH YOU WILL:
Learn about new SteelSeries products and services
Introduce yourself as the newest member of the SteelSeries family and ‘go-to’ contact for all things PR and Comms in the country
and
establish
relationships with
key gaming, tech, lifestyle
,
and mainstream media
Ideate and collaborate with EMEA country managers for regional PR strategies and tactics
WITHIN 3 MONTHS YOU WILL:
Continue to foster and nurture new and existing media relationships
Begin to drive PR plans for quarterly marketing updates and new product launches
Execute localized PR plans for new products
Drive localized integrated marketing comms
WITHIN 9 MONTHS YOU WILL:
Create and manage localized regional PR campaigns
Take ownership of the non-traditional media approach, plans, and seeding program
Create a program for multi-channel publishing opportunities with new and key media
Conduct media tours and media events
Attend gaming and esports events on behalf of the brand
