Job Description
Geotechnical Engineer - Stonecross, Warrington
Would you like to join one of the UK's Best Big Companies as awarded by Best Companies? If so, we are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to support the Senior on the SSEN OHL project. Support may also be required by the wider engineering team to facilitate Murphy projects and tenders
What you will be doing:
Facilitate subsequent design scoping works, Site reconnaissance experience required
Field experience with a Geotechnical Contractor undertaking bore holes samples, core penetration tests and trial holes.
Design of geotechnical investigation works
Input into the management of ground risk at all stages of projects from concept through to construction and installation
Scheduling of ground investigation works
Commercial evaluations of ground investigation quotes
Supervision of ground investigation contractors
Assessment of geotechnical reports and ability to provide interpretive reports
Understanding of geotechnical, geophysical and topographical survey techniques
Interpretation of factual ground investigation reports
Desktop geotechnical studies to support routing of pipelines
Good client communication skills
Who are we looking for?
Ability to propose technical solutions for trenchless crossing designs
Ability to produce technical specifications for ground investigation including bills of quantities
Ability to produce technical reports that are clear and concise
Ability to produce feasibility and FEED studies to support trenchless activities within the company
Ability to produce geotechnical designs for foundations, retaining walls, sheet piled cofferdams and slope/trench stability
Temporary works experience
Awareness of pipeline installation techniques on long linear infrastructure projects
Familiar with piling design, techniques and applications
Familiar with authoring bodies and their standards/regulations, e.g. EA, SEPA, Natural England, Crown Estates, Local Authorities, Highways England, Network Rail, National Grid etc...
Understanding of GIS software and pipeline routing design
