GSL Education, Leicester City Centre is currently looking for a General Primary�Teaching Assistant for an Alternative Provision in Leicester City Centre. As a General Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work directly with the class teachers across Key Stages 1 and 2, working with small groups of identified students and those with additional need.�

General Primary Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with the class teachers, the SENCO, and outside organizations to promote exceptional educational delivery.
  • The key to the job role will be developing relationships with young people and fostering an inclusive atmosphere for them.
  • Working directly with the class teachers to help students reach their maximum potential by providing support, motivation, and encouragement.
  • Create and maintain SEMH friendly classrooms and teaching areas.
  • Offer assistance to children and young people within and outside of the classroom.
  • Assist in leading group activities, supervising group projects, or helping to facilitate group discussions.
  • During group activities, ensure that students stay on task, collaborate effectively, and resolve conflicts if they arise.

General Primary Teaching Assistant Requirements:
  • Candidates should possess prior experience as a General Primary Teaching Assistant or in an Education Practitioner capacity with Primary level students.
  • A high level of confidence in managing behaviour within an educational environment, including the use of de-escalation techniques, is expected.
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of supplementary needs such as SEMH is essential.
  • The ability to swiftly establish positive relationships is highly valued.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are prerequisites.
  • Holding an Enhanced DBS - Child or Child and Adult registered with the update service is required. Candidates without this can apply for a new one through GSL Education, with DBS sponsorship opportunities available.
