General Practitioner with extended role (GPwER)Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation TrustWe are seeking to recruit a General Practitioner with Extended Role tojoin our community paediatric service and develop our expanding skill mix. This is a new and excitingopportunity for experienced, enthusiastic and flexible candidates withinnovative ideas to help shape and compliment the Community Paediatric servicesin Bridgewater in Halton Borough. We provide a comprehensive range of communitypaediatric medical and co-located services for children and young people whohave neurodevelopmental needs (including ASD and ADHD), disabilities, specialeducational and social needs including Children in Care (CIC). The service isdelivered from a recently refurbished self-contained Child Development Centreand/or peripheral clinics.It is anticipated that the applicant will develop a specific role, subject totheir experience and interest and dependant on the departments requirements. A programme of training and supervisionwill be developed in partnership with the successful candidate as required.Applicationsare invited from suitably qualified General Practitioners who are committed toworking in a multidisciplinary setting and keen to support service development.By your application and C.V. you will be able to demonstrate that you have thenecessary skills and experience to enable you to work autonomously within thespecific role.Main duties of the jobThe purpose of the General Practitioner with ExtendedRole within Community Paediatrics is to provide a high-qualityservice supporting Children and Young People to receive assessment,investigation, diagnosis and appropriate support to optimise their quality oflife.The GP with Extended Role (GPwER) is a GP who undertakes, in addition to their core generalpractice, a role that is beyond the scope of GP training and that may requirefurther training. The GPwill work in and develop a specific area of expertise within the servicedelivered.One keydistinction is that a GPwERs management of the patient extends beyond themedical model, and as a GP you will bring important additional skills inpractising holistically and dealing with complexity and uncertainty.This new role is part of a well-established team ofConsultants and Specialty Grade Doctors as well as a range of staff, includingspecialist Nurses. Keep an electronic record and log book toinclude the following;i.evidence of the acquisition of the core knowledgerelevant to the extended role, including any relevant and appropriateacademic qualificationsii.documentedexperience, and supervised training, within the specialty area of theextended roleiii.evidence of theacquisition of the core skills relevant to the extended role, includingappropriate supervised demonstration of competenceiv.evidence ofpositive feedback that affirms the individuals communication and teamworking skills, and ability to provide an appropriate standard of practice inthe extended rolev.a structuredreference from the clinical supervisor that covers all intended clinicalareas of competence within the extended role.Toencourage appropriate research within the Service supported by the Trust.Training & TeachingTo participate in the training ofNurses, Therapists, Education and Social Services staff and voluntary groupsand other staff as appropriate.To participate in medical andpostgraduate training when required by the organisationTo undertake safeguarding training atlevel 3, which will include the training required at levels 1-2.Accountability and ReviewTheGPwER is responsible to the Clinical Director in Community Paediatrics andaccountable to Bridgewater Medical Director and ultimately to the TrustBoard.
