and a Driver, processes and systems to ensure freight shipments are received and dispatched appropriately and that productivity targets are met daily.You'll also be responsible for the workplace health and safety standards, risk assessments and the security of the building and stock as admin, housekeeping, training, appraisals, and rosters ( WH rosters to be manned from 09:00h to 21:00h Monday to Sunday)Our Client is a is a neutral customs and logistics service provider operating from a 15,000-square-foot facility. They tailor their services for Multi-Modal Import & Export, E-commerce Logistics, Excisable goods, B2B/B2C/C2C consignments, Reverse Logistics, and more.An HMRC Licenced warehouse like theirs- is fully bonded by HMRC with numerous Customs Compliance Licenses that require a hands-on, experienced person who has worked no less than 3 to 5 years in fully bonded and ETSF operator warehouses before that will be required to take ownership of the Warehouse Customs Compliance and handling of the Import/Export multi-model freight (air, sea, road, rail) and Excise freight.Role Objective:This role requires a candidate with the ability and experience to organize and manage a team of warehouse temp staff and entry-level staff whilst ensuring the business is fully compliant with its ETSF bonded area and HMRC Compliance and NGT in-house operation procedures. This role will require the candidate to be involved in moving sites from the Company's current premises 15,000 sqf warehouse to new premises 25,000-30,000 sqf warehouse nearby in late autumn Sept 2024, so previous experience is a plus for the candidate to have in moving/opening a new warehouse site in the past.Implementing new disciplines and setting up new warehouse handling procedures will be a key requirement of this role. Experience in working in pressurized environments whilst still delivering a first-class service to our customers and network will be key to ensuring success in this role.A successful track record of implementing new procedures for the safe, efficient and economical movement of freight through a multi-channelled warehouse will be essential.The successful candidate will be task-focused on delivering exceptional service standards with minimal loss or damage to freight as it travels through our Warehouse. The ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders whilst engaging staff and peers are key attribute in this challenging role.With a development background allied to great people skills, the successful candidate will need to lead the warehouse operation through a change management phase whilst ensuring service levels are maintained and improved.Main Responsibilities & ExperienceResponsible for all activities and administration of the warehouse team covering rosters preps, appraisals, training, disciplinaries, risk assessments, H&S and Fire proceduresHave experience and able to set up a system for the warehouse to handle smoothly B2C, B2B, C2C, DDU, DAP and e-commerce freight under ETSF Customs compliance proceduresConduct daily briefings and have clear communication with the team to ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities and team goals dailyCoordinate and monitor the receipt, order, assembly and dispatch of the freight as per the standards set by the Management in conjunction with the full HMRC Compliance and ETSF bond procedures.In charge of doing the ETSF bond checks – manage held shipments storage and release system established by the CompanyUse warehouse space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met at all times and his team is trained to do the sameAbility to implement, manage and measure the core activities of the warehouse department.Have a clear understanding of the policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these and ensure the warehouse team deliver the highest performance based on these policies and values.Manage and coordinate the use of automated and computerized in-house systems as external ones, to manage the workflow and accountability of the inbound and outbound freightImplement a vehicle booking slots system for inbound/unloading and outbound/loadings to stagger the freight volumes and workflow during the day and avoid backlogs and congestionThe ability to be able to operate efficiently in a busy and pressurized environmentEnsuring all staff handle, label and manage all movements of freight within the warehouse in a safe and correct mannerIdentifying opportunities within the department to reduce costs and add value to the operation.Respond to and deal with customer communication by email and telephoneIdentifying needs and establishing client requirements as per projectsHandle e-commerce freight with effective planning and handlingIdentifying opportunities to improve the service levels in the warehouse and have the ability to rectify dropping service levels and act on itKnow Microsoft Office pack and be able to work with PowerPoint, Word and Excel to be able to manage workflows of freight moving, create new procedures, standards templates and training filesKnowledge of H&S legislation and proven record of efficient H&S ManagementConduct departmental meetings the the warehouse teamAttend Senior Management meetingsBe responsible for the Risk Assessments of the warehouse, train his team and keep those up-to-dateAdministration of all necessary warehouse records Company's in-house record system and management reportsHave excellent time management and timekeeping, and manage the WH team to do the sameProduce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis about the performance of the warehouseBrief team leaders daily and ensure all tasks are completed and the warehouse operation is managed and overseenCreate and oversee that Housekeeping schedule to be executed daily and checklist completedManage and deal with Customs Import/Export shipments and UK Border Force inspectionsOversee the planned maintenance of the warehouse, company vehicles, machinery and equipment.People – interacting with people effectively by:Developing positive relationships with colleagues and team members and supporting the UK Head of Operations in attaining the business goalsEstablishing and maintaining the trust and support of colleagues, managers and teamsAssisting when required in the induction and appropriate training of individualsPromoting and adhering to good working practices and procedures with particular reference to the Company's service standardsActing responsibly towards colleagues and team members regarding regulations and requirements with respect to Health and Safety and Aviation SecurityMaintaining personal hygiene to a standard expected of yourself and your colleague's Corporate Identity – provide a suitable professional image by:Maintaining and adhering to other Company policyInformation - MandatoryETSF procedures and compliance- MandatoryAdministrative skills and experience – MandatoryCargo Manager / Screening experience - PreferableCustoms clearance, record creation, approvals - PreferableAd-hoc tasks:Follow instructions from company management for reasonable assignmentsThis role may involve a weekend shift depending on the Company's level of business work and arrangements.
