General Manager – Care Home , Respite Service and Day Activities Centre



Are you an experienced Social Care Manager who enjoys managing operations, working autonomously, striving for the very best for your residents and learning new skills for yourself along the way? If so, we’d love to hear from you!



We’re looking for somebody who has worked as a General Manager, Operations Manager, Registered Manager or similar, within residential care or supported living, to take up this post overseeing a site that delivers residential care and day services to adults with physical disabilities and/or learning disabilities. It’s for an independent charity and so you’ll have a vast and varied role.  



On offer is an attractive salary of £48,000 - £55,000, 25 days leave plus bank holidays, health cash back scheme and pension.

They deliver high-quality care and support to help people reach their goals and aspirations and plan special events and outings regularly.





The General Manager role



As the General Manager you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the day to day operations of running of the care home, respite unit and day care centre. You’ll supervise and support the Registered Manager in managing a quality-focused, individualised care provision, and you’ll register as the Nominated Individual with CQC. You’ll manage the commercial and operations side of running the home, whist still vey much being a visible presence and leader to residents, their families an the staff within the service.



There is lots of scope for development for this charity and so you’ll play a lead role in developing the organisation, you’ll chair the fundraising committee and play a part in the events and fundraisers that they hold.



Responsibilities will include;




  • Set and manage the budget

  • Prepare reports for and attend executive meetings

  • Completing annual return and reporting to charity commission

  • Health and Safety

  • Recruit, Train and Supervise Staff

  • Fee negotiation with Local Authorities / Continuing Health

  • Assessment of new referrals

  • Maintain partnerships with other  community organisations  

  • Manage complaints or concerns.

  • Liaising with resits families and health care professionals

  • Ensure the service is meeting all it’s legal obligations







What we’re looking for..



A background in care managing either residential care or supported living services is ESSENTIAL as is experience in supporting people with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy and/or Learning Disabilities.



This role would suit either an experienced  General Manager / Operations Manager / Area Manager  of care services, or somebody with a number of years under their belt as a Registered Manager who is looking to progress their career.



You’ll be able to work autonomously and take on the level of responsivity that is required. You’ll be reporting the board of Trustee’s for the charity and will have lots of support from and experienced team, but this is a role suited to somebody who can thrive in a small organisation, can solve problems unaided and has the capacity to work well under pressure.



Qualifications – you’ll need to hold QCF level 5 in Leadership and Management for Social Care (or equivalent), or a degree in a care related field such as Social Work or Nursing.
