Our client is a leading civil engineering firm specializing in large-scale infrastructure projects. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality results, we are currently seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Supervisor to join our team for an exciting rail project based in Wigan, with a stretch extending to Bolton.
Position Overview:
The Civil Engineering Supervisor will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the rail project, including bridges, tunnels, structures, and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in civil engineering, extensive experience in managing large-scale projects, and possess essential certifications such as PTS (Personal Track Safety) and SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme).
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
Manage and motivate a team of engineers, subcontractors, and construction workers to achieve project milestones within specified timelines and budget constraints.
Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to ensure workmanship meets industry standards and client requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues, mitigate risks, and optimize project outcomes.
Implement and enforce health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel on-site.
Monitor project progress, prepare progress reports, and communicate updates to project stakeholders effectively.
Coordinate material deliveries, equipment deployment, and resource allocation to support construction activities efficiently.
Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team, offering solutions to challenges encountered during the project lifecycle.
Assist in the interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual documents to facilitate construction operations.
Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement within the project team.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Professional engineering licensure is preferred but not mandatory.
Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in civil engineering supervision, particularly on large infrastructure projects involving bridges, tunnels, and structures.
Possession of essential certifications such as PTS (Personal Track Safety) and SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme). SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) would be advantageous.
Sound knowledge of construction methodologies, techniques, and best practices in civil engineering.
Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with relevant construction regulations, codes, and standards applicable to rail and infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in using construction management software and tools for scheduling, documentation, and reporting.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently.
Flexibility to work occasional weekends or evenings as project requirements dictate.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.
Location:
The position is based in Wigan, with project sites extending to Bolton. Candidates must be willing to work at various project locations as required.
