A subspecialty interest in Oncology, GU, GI, Emergency Radiology, Intervention, Chest and Cardiothoracic Radiology can be accommodated.This new post has arisen as part of our £65 million new build emergency radiology department due to open in late 2024 with 2 new CT rooms.We are a dynamic and innovative department, and the applicant will be expected to provide acute and sub speciality imaging. Portsmouth is host to the Portsmouth training scheme, providing training to 20 specialist registrars.Key Responsibilities:General radiologist with a subspecialist interest in either oncology, intervention, head and neck, neuro, GU, GI and chest to accommodate the increasing workload. These jobs have become available as part of the funding for the new £65 million emergency department build. General workAcute in-patient cross-sectional imaging On-call service. Currently 1:14Supported by local Trainees until 22:00 hrsOutsourced CT 22:00 hrs to 09:00 hrsWeekend on call working is in and working for between 8-10 hrs, compensated with time in lieu (time and a third). This can be taken within three months of the on-call date. Share with colleagues in the training, supervision and support of radiographers and ultrasonographers, including skill mix training. Provide training for the Portsmouth Radiology Training Scheme Specialty Trainees and other Southampton based rotating Wessex SPRs. The job comprises 8 direct clinical care (DCC) and 2 supporting programme activities (SPA). One of the SPA sessions can be taken off site. We are happy to support flexible working (eg compressed job plan, four day working, reporting from home (home workstations are provided) etc.) Extra DDC PAs may be available following consultation with the Clinical Director, depending on departmental and personal requirements. Regular reviews of job plan with be undertaken. Fellowship level trainingEssentialClinical ExperienceDemonstrable, significant and ongoing experience in acute radiology with evidence of significant subspecialist training, including competence in a broad range of ultrasound, CT, imaging guided biopsies, and plain film interpretation. General Diagnostic Radiology skills to support local requirements for acute general radiology service weekday time and on call/ in and working at weekend. Understanding of clinical risk management.
